“What a deal!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

For the price we paid for this 83rd floor room overlooking the water, this was by far the best deal we have ever got in our frequent travels. Ok the locatiion is far from good, some distance away from all the main action, but all it takes is half an hour to get into Kowloon. And the train station is five minutes away.Of course there are hordes of people checking in from Mainland China and the pool was not open (hence the pre-opening rates) but you can;t ask for a $60-70 room in Hong Kong with your shower recess made of glass and looking onto the waterway. The room was big enough for four of us (two boys). For the adventourous (such as myself) there was the fish market bang opposite as well as an area which was 10 times biggetr than any Chinatown I have seen around the world. A food hunters paradise. And for those more conservative with their eating habits, like my wife, there's a 7/11 next door.

Room Tip: The higher the better

“No frills Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

a 4 star hotel but catering to mainly tour groups. It is only 5 min walk to train station through a park or overhead bridge. It's only a couple of stop to the ferry terminal/city. There is a free shuttle servive to/from Peninsula Hotel. Convenient. Opposite the hotel, you will find a neighbour hood shopping complex and market. Great place for family trip who need space and not only shopping malls.
The service at the hotel is not excellent, though with minimal seating area at the lobby with crowded tour groups. The lifts can be jam packed during tour groups movement.

“Beautiful Hotel - Terrible Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

This hotel is about 20 minutes taxi from the airport. and about 25 minutes to Kowloon. A bit of out the way but it is worth the great views from your hotel rooms. We were on the 59th floor in the Deluxe Harbour View suite. Gorgeous rooms with very modern decor but when it comes to service, this hotel was the worst of our 3 week trip and we only stayed here 2 nights. The hotel's security would not allow us to sit with our luggage in the 'common area' near the front desk...where were we supposed to go as we were checking out? We were a group of 8. This hotel was busy!!!! so we weren't the only ones waiting in the lobby with our luggage. Stupid rules. The front desk was frustrating to deal with - at 11:30pm after arriving and settling into our rooms, we were told that the restaurant was closed and there is no room service, as well as telling us there can be no delivery to our rooms. After asking to make a local call, we were told that in order to do so, we had to come down to the front desk(from the 59th floor - two elevators later) to put down a $4 deposit to be able to make phone calls. Ridiculous! Also I had hurt my ankle and so we asked for some ice to settle the swelling and we were given a map and directions to the 7-11 down the street. After walking to the 7-11 to find that they don't have ice, I was furious. They sent ice to our room 5 minutes later. Beautiful hotel, terrible service. Would not stay here again.

Room Tip: Go high and do the deluxe suite!

“Amazing Hotel Poor Customer Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We stayed on the 70th floor which was awesome, but it takes 2 elevators to get there. Yikes.

While in our room maintenance people just walked in without even knocking. The front desk was a mess and difficult to work with. Part of that of course is the language and culture differences.

Fairly close to the public transportation which made getting around very easy.

The rooms with all hard flooring were a little bit too loud, but the 70th story view kept making up for all the things that were less than pleasing.

“L'Hotel Nina, Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

The hotel is huge and the rooms are big. You have to be intimate with your partner since the shower is a circular glass showcase. There are a lot of tour groups staying in this hotel.
The location is not the best; however, it is only a five min. walk to the subway and you can reach Central in about 20 minutes. There is also a bus terminal right beside the hotel but I never used it. In Hong Kong, transportation could be quite expensive as you need to pay on any section, there is no such thing as "Transfer" ticket in North America. Tsuen Wan is outside of Kowloon and Hong Kong, it is in the New Territories, hence your daily commute could turn to be quite expensive. However, it is a bit closer to the airport, taking a taxi to airport would be cheaper than from Kowloon or Hong Kong. If you have two people traveling from the airport to anywhere, it is almost the same cost as taking the train. There are a few shopping centers close to the hotel as well as some eateries..
Since it is not Central, once you leave the hotel in the morning you don't want to travel back and forth. Whereas if you stay in Kowloon or Hong Kong, which is more central to most famous shopping districts and you can afford to go back to the hotel more often.
I stayed in this hotel in 2010 and I am returning next month, the main reason is the cost which is quite reasonable at $95 per night, I could not find anything decent close to this price range in Kowloon or Hong Kong during March. In December I stayed in BP International in Jordon which is far more convenient; however, when I checked the price for BP, it is $200 per night, which is quite different for what we paid in December ~$100 per night. You need to really shop around for Hong Kong hotels as their price fluctuates a fair bit all through the year.
I also found if you ask a travel agent in Chinatown to book a hotel for you in Hong Kong, their price is usually a lot cheaper than you book online (such as using Agoda, Expedia or Orbitz), only they might not have a wide selection.
I do travel to Hong Kong and/or China at least once a year, I will keep updating my travel experience in the Far East.

Room Tip: Higher floors are better
