The Holiday Inn Express in Causeway Bay represents the custom built concept also seen in hotels such as Greenwich, London or Hauptbahnhof (Messe), Frankfurt. First time guests may have difficulty finding the hotel as it remains unconscipicous until being at the door. An unaffiliated restaurant on street level attracts crowds of young people, forming waiting lines on the street side.
I have used the hotel for years, fairly regurlarly, despite the fact that no upper tier perks were available. As usual in some Expresses (not all) wifi is free and works. Now, at least in February 2012, the hotel has started offering late checkout for HI top tier guests.
The free breakfast is on a set basis. In most cases the order is forgotten though and after a wait someone will ask, what had been ordered - and will say sorry. This morning I counted at least 10 persons working in the breakfast lounge and it all appeared somewhat disorganized. The breakfast menu offers five choices, from western to local. This is ok tough, in comparison with having to line up for a meagre buffet (such as in many European and North American Holiday Inn Express hotels.)
A transit tip: The walkway in tunnels from the MTR train to the exit under the Mall is huge. I usually switch to tram in the Admiralty station to avoid the long uphill walk in the tunnels (longer than, say, the comparable tunnel walk at Green Park station in London, if going to the Holiday Inn on Piccadilly.) From the tram stop the walking distance is much less, though on the other side of the Mall.
