“Clean, Convenient and Adequate”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

The place turned out to be adequately nice and clean!

Of course as expected it was small, definitely smaller than any usual hostels or hotels, but it fit 4 of us ladies just nicely. I read some of the reviews online that their rooms had no windows, so I particularly was worried about that, but thankfully ours had. Maybe you can request for rooms with windows. Probably because our room was among the biggest. Other than that, the single bed, and the queen size double decker was placed just nice, with more space underneath the bed for us to place our bags and shoes.

My friend was particularly worried about the cleanliness of the place. Turned out, it was REALLY clean. We were surprised yet again! The bathroom was spotless clean. Eventhough the bathroom was really small, but it perfectly fitted the sink, the toilet bowl and the shower giving enough room for us to shower. I'm not quite sure whether it would fit the big travellers, but for me, it was just fine in fact there was even more room for me to move around.

I STRONGLY recommend Dragon hostel because really liked it, and also because the convenience the hostel offered is at its top notch. Not only does the Mong Kok train station is less than 2 minutes walk, the ladies market a minute walk and other shopping malls like the Langham Place is about 5 minutes walk, you can also buy almost all the tourist attractions spots’ tickets from there at discounted rates! Trust me, this will SAVE SO MUCH OF YOUR TIME! TRUST ME! Mr. Stanley and his son were always so helpful to us and the rest of the residents. There were a couple of times some of us were locked outside (because there was only one key provided for the room for the four of us) at 4AM in the morning *shy*, but Mr. Stanley and his son were always willing to help.

Disneyland Tickets
- Dragon hostel : HKD 350
- Disneyland : HKD 399

The Peak Tram and Sky Terrace
- Dragon hostel: HKD 58
- Peak Tram: HKD 70 (and the line was insanely long!!! Thank God we bought it from Dragon Hostel first)

Should you take the cab to go to the airport, please liase with Mr. Stanley or his son because the price shared by Dragon Hostel is fixed as opposed to hailing your own cabs.

Hope this helps!

xx

“average”

We stayed here January 8th 2012. The owner, Stanley is very accommodating and friendly, the only problem is some of his staff can't speak in english, but still they will try their very best to help you. They also allow us to use their kitchen when we want to cook something.

Regarding the room(triple room), it is really small. It's so hard for us to move freely, but anyways guesthouse in hong kong are really like that so no biggie.

The room is clean as well as the toilet. They provide fridge, hot and cool water in the hallway. The hallways has a door and a gate for security.

The only thing that i don't like about this is the hallway of the building itself. It's really dirty and old. Actually the building is kinda old.

All in all, i am satisfied staying in this guesthouse, but no WOW!

“An Oasis in Mong Kok”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

I had the very good fortune to be able to stay with the fine folks at Dragon Hostel for three weeks in November, 2011. Owner Stanley Fan, his family, staff and colleagues could not have been nicer. Dragon Hostel is located in Sincere House, which is on the VERY happening and INCREDIBLY busy Argyle Street in Mong Kok.

The address is 83 Argyle Street, and should you intend to find Sincere House and enter Dragon Hostel, you will enter Sincere House at the sides of the building. One entrance is located on Tung Choi Street, the opposite entrance is located on Fa Yuen Street. Both of these entrances are within 20 feet or so of Argyle Street, so if you walk farther than this, you went too far.

Both entrances are served by lifts with attendants and security, and are open 24 hours each day.

Take the lift to the 7th floor, and head for the office using the handy guide signs provided.

Check in is easy. One thing I will mention here, is that some of the staff are not bilingual, and only speak Mandarin or Cantonese. Should this happen to you, fear not. As long as you have made a reservation, should the desk staff not speak English, grab a Dragon Hostel business card, find Stanley's name in English on same, point to it, and ask the desk staff to call Stanley.

He will always answer, he'll talk to you, get your name, then talk to the desk staff, and all will be well.

Simple and easy.

Rooms in my opinion, are excellent. Clean, comfortable, and well serviced each day. I selected a room with a shared bathroom, and the latter was absolutely spotless. Hot water 24 hours a day.

Each hallway of rooms has a refrigerator and hot and cool water dispensers, and laundry facilities should you need this. Each hallway also has locking security doors and sliding gates for added peace of mind if you need them.

Dragon Hostel has many, many extra small touches that will assist you, whether you are an absolute first timer, or whether you've been in Hong Kong many times before.

Need Disney or Ocean Park tickets? Dragon Hostel has discounted ones. Need cable Car tickets to Ngong Ping ? Ditto -- easily available at Dragon Hostel.

Transportation to or from the airport? Just ask.

Dragon Hostel has everything I need for my stay in Hong Kong. That is exactly what I need -- comfortable, safe, friendly, and in an incredibly convenient location, close to the MTR, bus lines, and FOOD!

The rooms at Dragon Hostel are small, I will admit. And that is exactly what I am paying for. Compact, with enough room to feel comfortable in. Home sweet home for three excellent weeks in the city.

Television, phones, and A/C that was frosty cold also.

Now, if you are looking for a hotel with a grand sitting area in each room, sweeping views of Victoria Harbour, whirlpool tub with marble accents, you'll probably need to stay elsewhere.

Should you need excellent accommodations in the pulsing heart of Mong Kok, Choose Dragon Hostel. I am glad I did.

Stanley and his fine team of assistants will make you feel at home.

“Cosy Hostel at a Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

The rooms are really really tiny, we had one with a double-deck bed and a single for 3 of us, and to be honest it was too small. The bathroom was even smaller and could only fit 1 person at a time.

However, despite that, it was a really cosy hostel that made you feel right at home. Stanley is extremely friendly, helpful and will answer your travel questions and recommend great places to eat!

Mongkok is so alive in the night, if your windows are open, you can hear the hustle and bustle of the city, so if you're looking for peace and quiet, this hostel is not recommended. However, if you're looking for food, shopping and night life! This is definitely the place to stay.
