“Excellent value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Stayed here 6 nights in January. I think this hotel offers excellent value for money.

Service:
Really friendly personnel, from bellboy to receptionist. Manager was always available to answer questions in perfect English. He helped us with everything we asked. Downside is the pricy WiFi in your room, and the crowded free WiFi in the lobby. There are only three elevators, meaning a little wait during rush hour.

Room:
Clean, but not too big and little outdated. For a tall Dutchman like me the bed was a bit small, but for the rest the room was very comfortable.

Location:
Pretty good, 5 mins walk to Times Square and subway. The area is safe (like most places in HK).

Thank you for your comment. despite of the complimentary WiFi services available in hotel public area such as lobby, 3T Bar, Tour Desk and restaurant, the in-room internet is designed in 50MB ultra high speed which is 6.7 times faster than general city hotels to meet our guests’ needs. our internet charge is also priced in line with Hong Kong hotel standards. Moreover, In order to shorten the guests’ waiting period, elevator quantity has been increase to 4 with clear signage, I however would like to apologize for the crowed of WiFi users and lift usage due to high occupancies.

Cosmopolitan Hotel has been named as one of the most comfortable hotels in Hong Kong and Macau region. all rooming amenities are constantly up grading and renewing such as carpet, executive desk, high quality Simmons bedding mattress with free pillow menu of 11 choices. i am also delighted to share that the new bathroom design will be executed in 2012 in selected room types. the bedding size is offered in various size for our guests from a choice between a double bed (5 ft x 6.25 ft) or twin beds (3.5 ft x 6.25 ft each to two double queen beds (5.25 ft x 6.16 ft each) With a bed mattress length of 6.25 ft though, bed extension can always be arranged by our professional housekeeping staff upon guest’s request for a sound night sleep. You are always welcome to contact us for more detail in order to choose the most suitable room types and beds. I am very much looking forward to your soonest return to provide you an unforgettable stay.

“Great comfortable hotel in Hong Kong”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I will certainly be staying here from now on. It was nice to stay in a hotel that felt comfortable while being affordable. The rooms are average size (reasonably large compared to some hoitels I have stayed in Hong Kong). The Cosmopolitan is handy to Wanchai and Causeway Bay shopping areas without being right in the midst of things, much more relaxing. It is a nice hotel, the room was comfortable and very clean, and the bathroom was a much better size than many (I have previously had to stand on the toilet to shut the bathroom door just so I could get into the shower in some hotels). They have a shuttle bus which goes into Wanchai and to the MTR every 1/2 hour or so though it is only really a 5 minute walk anyway. I tried the breakfast one morning, good selection of different types of food as well as eggs cooked to your liking to order on the spot for you.

“A pleasure to be back”

Today I checked into my "home in Hong Kong" - the Cosmopolitan Hotel, Causeway Bay. I travel here frequently for business and, having found this gem, would never stay anywhere else. The staff greet me warmly, remember all my preferences, and go out of their way to ensure I have everything I need. I congratulate all the staff for their friendliness and professionalism, but in particular this time, I highly commend Guest Services Manager Agnes Yau for her exceptional customer service. Agnes personally sees to every detail for me in anticipation of my arrival. And even if my arrival time is past the finish of her shift, Agnes will stay on to greet me. It makes such a difference to feel so welcome and know I will be well cared for, especially for a woman travelling alone. Thank you, Agnes, and your wonderful team. PS: As always, my room is well appointed and perfectly clean. The welcome fruit basket, complementary water bar (replenished daily), and full range of bathroom amenities are appreciated too - as is the fast, faultness in-room wifi. For me, this hotel ticks all the boxes.

Room Tip: higher floors cost more but are worth it if you want to minimise traffic noise

“Never seen worse reception staff!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

Location is very good. Building okay. Decor is a little dated. Rooms are extremely noisy. Had a couple with a baby next door who woke up hourly and cried ... Thus the whole corridor would hear them.
Paid ahead for room and was confirmed free Internet access along with a deluxe room. Upon arrival was told that the room type was not available so I have received a "complimentary" upgrade to a deluxe (!) room with twin beds. I had to go through a seriously ridiculous conversation with a woman who has the title of a Guest Services Manager, but could not really care less. During the check-in process she changed my room allocation at least three times. On top of all she tried to convince me that the twin bedded room is the best option for me. She was the rudest reception staff I have ever encountered.
She failed to mention that the room she gave me was a disabled room. Huge mistake! Also even though it is not mentioned in the confirmation letter I had to pay a service charge for Internet. Ridiculous!
Upon entering the room, the smell hit me first... Damp and moldy. Then I started looking around. AC has visible mold spots which is not uncommon on a climate like HK, but is easily avoidable. Bathroom is unimaginable. Towels were dirty and very old, the shower curtain is dirty and smelly, the shower base moldy, pubic hair on toilet, sink very dirty. It seemed that the room was not cleaned, maybe it was supposed to be a last sell, but since I insisted on having a normal size bed, I got what was left.
I must admit that Housekeeping staff was very nice and helpful and efficient. It took a while for the operator to understand what I wanted, but after talking to a responsible person all bathroom issues were solved! That bad experience was turned around in a heartbeat. Well done for them!
Still I contacted reception regarding a possible room change and was promised a callback ... Now that never happened. Again the nonchalant, rude attitude. At one point the pson started to talk to someone else while "listening" to me. RUDE!!!
Change the front desk in its entirety!

Thank you for your comments. Regarding the room assignment, though we proactively offered a free room upgrade for you, this was unfortunately turned down by your good self. On the internet service charge side, we are regretful that this is actually a charge imposed by the internet service provider and such terms are published on our hotel website at different stages pre-and-post time of booking.

We’re yet thankful for your comments on the good service extended by our Housekeeping team. Although the unusual room condition was uncommon to us for the fact that we have been named a most comfortable hotel by Michelin Guide for 3 consecutive years, I do hope our housekeeper did correct that immediately to your satisfaction. We will reinforce our cleaning procedure taking this as an example.

Concerning disturbance from room next door, our Guest Services Manager on duty 24-hour would have been able to assist. I hope you did have the chance to relay this across to him. Thank you.

“Room with a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We upgraded to a city view room and it sure exceeded expectations, could also see the racecourse. Location ideal for us - ding ding stop outside, plenty of free shuttles, Causeway Bay minutes away, racecourse next door. If you like eggs for breakfast, use the egg chef. English style breakfast usuall lukewarm on cold plates at best. Overall very happy and would recommend for out of the way hotel.

Room Tip: Dont bother with frosted windows overlooking graveyard you cant see - go for city view inc. breakfas...
