“Sheraton HK - TST station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2012

I've been to HK several time, In my opinion, when you see the 4 stars hotel, is atually which 3 stars. But this hotel is very good as same as any Sheraton in other countries.

The hotel is located on Tsim Tha Tsui (TST) station (1 block), across the street from Sogo (not big department store but it has supermarket and small nice food court). The opposite building is Peninsula hotel which carry Chanel, LV, Prada, Hermes for the brandnames lover.

A few blocks walk to carnavorn rd., the street that has a lot of shop to eat (chinese wonton, noodle, Congee, Japanese)

In room, even small but they are complete, the bathroom has both shower & tub. The bed mattress is not good as same as Sheraton in US, but they are above average of other Hong Kong local hotel (same rate as here). They have additional pillows and blanket provided in the wardrobe. They are the weight machine, too.

Lastly, they don't have heater (only AC) which the same rate hotel (for example Marco Polo gateway) don't have it,too.
I made a reservation via an agency which is actually cheaper than the rate in SPG website.

Room Tip: request a harbor view, I got the 6th floor but it is still ok. we can see the symphony of light fro...

“Great Location For Kowloon Side”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012
3
people found this review helpful

The Sheraton Hong Kong is located near the tip of Kowloon at the end of Nathan Road. It is a great location for shopping and convenient to the MTR (subway) with the Tsim Tha Tsui (TST) station, walking distance to the Star Ferry and the shops in the TST area.

Getting here: The best way to get to the hotel from the Hong Kong Airport is via the Airport Express. Take the Airport Express to Kowloon Station (HKG $90 or approximately USD $12 one way) which will take about 25 minutes. At Kowloon Station transfer the to the free “K2” bus which is located on the upper level of the station and will drop you off in front of the hotel. The K2 bus leaves every 12 minutes and stops at a few hotels before reaching the Sheraton. If you choose not to take the free bus, you can take a taxi from Kowloon station to the Hotel and this will be approximately HKG $35-40.

The easiest way to find the bus stop on your return is exit the hotel where the taxi pick up and drop off is located, and turn left. Go to the street and turn right. Walk about 25 meters and there will be a bus sign for the Airport Express.

Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the Airport (takes longer and will run you about HKG $250 one way) or the hotel has a limo pick up service for HKG $720.

The hotel is located across the street from the TST MTR which gives you great access to both Kowloon and Hong Kong MTR stations, and is only about 5-8 minutes by walk to the Star Ferry which will take you across the Harbour for a mere HKG $2.50.

The rooms are what one might expect from a Sheraton anywhere in the world, nothing spectacular and probably getting to a point where an update should be considered. Depending on your floor and room, the views can be quite good.

For SPG Platinum members, the lounge leaves a lot to be desired….not quite as bad as my recent experiences in Casablanca (which was a terrible lounge if you could call it that), but hardly something to consider a luxury. In my opinion, it is not commiserate with the business image of this hotel, and certainly not of what Hong Kong might offer in a 5* hotel. It is not heavily used, but this is probably due to the obscure location, small room, and lack of amenities that one might be used to in an executive lounge for a S. E. Asia hotel.

Breakfast was included as part of Platinum membership and there is a broad array of food including Western and Asian selections. If you are paying, I believe it is priced at HKG $220 which is not, in my opinion, cheap. It is a solid breakfast with good quality food so value for money will depend on your viewpoint.

A pet peeve of mine is hotels that charge for local Hong Kong “0800 or 800” numbers which should be free….a.k.a. calling card access numbers. This hotel charges HKG $35 per call, which can be quite irritating – and you can rack up quite a bill depending on how many calls you make.

Great location overcomes minor flaws but it is not up to a true 5* experience of other Hong Kong or Asian hotels.

Room Tip: High floors can have great views of Hong Kong.

“Fantastic location with breath-taking views of the Harbour!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We spent Christmas at this hotel on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong. We arrived on December 24th and left on December 31st. They had a great rate for long term stays.

I booked a Deluxe Harbourview Tower Room with two twin beds. I emailed the hotel about a month before to ensure there would be two twin beds. Communication with the hotel was excellent via email. I had also arranged private transport from Hong Kong airport to the hotel. The service could not have been better. You are greeted at the Sheraton counter as you leave the baggage area. You are then escorted to a Mercedes luxury sedan where they load your luggage and you step into a comfortable experience, which is very important for me as I travel alone with my 10 year old son. Fortunately, this time we invited my dad over, who was staying in China, to join us for the week, hence we needed the two beds.

Being a Towers guest, you have your own check-in on the 16th floor. When we arrived, our luggage was tagged downstairs and we proceeded in check-in on the 16th floor. As you can imaging, it was very busy since it was Christmas eve. We were escorted into the lounge where we were offered drinks and a comfortable lounge to relax. My credit card, reservation, and passports were given to a check-in hostess and when everything was done, I got everything back and our room keys. The lounge has a fabulous view of the Harbour and Hong Kong Island and it was nice to enjoy this view after a 15 1/2 hour flight from Toronto.

When we proceeded to our room, our bags followed shortly - about 5 -10 minutes. We were very happy with our rooms-- only we would have liked a non-smoking room, but they were great about getting us an air filter which we enjoyed for the entire stay.

Breakfast was included at served at the Oyster & Wine bar. Great buffet selection and also hot menu selection ranging from American, Chinese, Thai, Japanese breakfast. On weekends, they also served champagne.

The lounge has an afternoon high tea service and in the evening there were cocktails and appetizers until 8:30 pm You do have access to the lounge 24 hours if you only need to grab coffee/tea/soft drinks/water with your room key.

There is a light show every evening at 8 pm, which we actually watched from our room or the lounge.

The location is great for walking around and the Star Ferry Terminal is very close.

If you have any interest to eat at the Celestial Court restaurant, you have to make reservations. Unfortunately I did not get to eat there as there was a function or wedding there every day of our stay.

The Oyster & Wine bar has the most delicious crab cakes I have eaten! The lobster salad was also excellent.

As for service, the staff are great and top notch...no complaints at all. We had the pleasure of being served by a very nice young lady "Wing Wong", both during breakfast and in the lounge. She would be very genuine in her pleasant conversation with my 80 year dad. And she was also well appreciated by other guests based on the interactions that I observed.

So, all in all, I would stay at this hotel again due to the level of service and the excellent staff!!!

“Great Location with Stunning view, but old.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We have been over Chinese New Year in the Sheraton and had two interconnected rooms with Barbour view. The rooms were clean, but very small by Asian standards. Reception was very much a mess and it took more than 20 min to checking and 30 min to check out. Overall was the temperature in the Hotel to low and we had to use all the times thick pullovers. The lounge for plainum SPG members did not offer breakfast and was very small (without a window).

Anyway, the view on the firework made this an excellent stay.

Room Tip: Take a room with Harbour room on the higher floors. The skybar is a must.

“Hotel in the hustle & bustle of the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

The hotel is located very conveniently near TST MTR station, and it's in the middle of all the actions.

The Harbour View room is simply spectacular in particular the night view across the Victoria Harbour.

This hotel however requires some major upgrading (such as carpet) to keep in line with major 5* hotels in Hong Kong.

Room Tip: Harbour View Room is awesome
