Member's rate got a discounted short stay but as this is Hong Kong it's still on the pricey side for a four-star hotel. It was nice hotel has a modern restful theme, elevators are not keyed-access but were quick. The room is smallish but functional and well-lit and is smartly designed to accomodate a modest number of luggage and persons. The King bed was not-too-soft comfortable with a choice of pillows and a console to control lights and radio. Amenities like a plug adaptor, plentiful desk and bedside power outlets, a small bedside rolling tray were thoughtful. The HDTV console had a VGA, LAN, power ports but no HDMI, Al Jazeera and Foxnews were dissonantly available. There was no outdoor view to speak of, but my wife found the two cube seats by the window great for naps.
The stylish bath was cramped but functional with decent hot water pressure. Toilet is top push-activated though which I heartily dislike. A single sliding door covers either the bath entrance or the adjoining closet but not both, this is a problem at night because the door is best left covering the latter to deactivate its bright closet light. This leaves the bath area open to the corridor, and turning on its overbright ceiling light floods a darkened room with too much brightness. I resorted to plugging a USB light into the wall shaver outlet for nightime duties.
Housekeeping staff was thorough and friendly. Reception staff was a bit hurried and cool, but then we did arrive at midnight and they were tired-looking. The Concierge was helpful with directions but on arrival there was no one available to bring our bags up the escalator to the upper lobby where reception and elevators are. On the plus side, billing was fast and check-out was straightforward once I stated I had not availed of the minibar.
The best thing about this location is its proximity to the subway and airport bus stops and to so many good local restaurants like Nathan Congee right outside. Also decent chains like Yoshinoya, Cafe de Coral two blocks down on Jordan Rd, a Starbucks on the corner. Broadband service in regular rooms is not free, so the first thing I did was to buy a mobile broadband SIM pack and hotspot it on my smartphone.
