“Perfect hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

You would have to go a very very long way to finding fault with this goregous hotel. From the top, the service on arrival was very welcoming with a plethora of staff who swiftly took our bags, labelled them and delivered to our room as we were checked-in.
The room which I believe most if not all are with harbour views, have lovely decor and everything you could possibly need for a hotel stay...robes, slippers, comp water, morning paper, extensive range of toiletries. I particularly liked the night lights which are great when caught short in the night and don't want to disturb. Also the bathroom mirror had a clever little idea going on; when the room steamed up after a shower it revealed a cleared section where an impression had been made so you didn't have to wipe it.
It was also my husbands birthday while we were staying and the hotel added some lovely touches which were not expecting so made them even more exciting. A bottle of red wine, a basket of fruit and a box of tasty choccies. The staff even baked a cake and left a card while we were out for our return on the night of his birthday...it was such a sweet gesture and we felt very welcome in a place we didn't know.
We ordered breakfast in the room one morning which was amazing. A full range of food and drink really nicely presented. You might think approx. £20 per head for breakfast a little expensive but believe me it was fit for a King - enough to keep you going almost all day!
We didn't try the pool as the weather was a little cold but the rooftop pool did look amazing, wonderful views and good sturdy wooden sunbeds - always a sign of quality I feel!
We did speak to the concierge for a day trip we were planning and found to be very helpful and knowledgeable.
Location wise, it is in the heart of city without being noisy so great choice of restaurants and bars locally with those great harbour views and MTR station just a couple minutes walk away. Shopping is everywhere in this city so no problems there!
All in all we had a fantastic time at this hotel which I can honestly say that I can not find any fault in, I would return and definatley would recommend.

Room Tip: Harbour View - I think most if not all rooms offer this great view, particularly pretty at night

“Clean, Convenient, Harbour View, Would Stay here again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We stayed here from 2/2/12-2/5/12. We took the fast train from the airport and then a free shuttle bus from the train stop (kowloon) to our hotel. Each way for 2 people was about $20 USD but well worth it. It took us about 20 minutes from airport to hotel. A taxi would be way more expensive and the bus was almost the same but would have taken twice the time. Upon arriving, check in was so pleasant. We were asked if we wanted to upgrade to a harbour view room for only $50 more per night. (of course we upgraded). Our room was pretty big (by Asis standards) and very clean. The bathroom was stocked with tons of items such as toothbrushes, shaving cream, Razor, toothpaste, loofa, shower caps, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, ect and stocked daily. There was also slippers for use that were changed daily by the maids. There was complimentary water stocked daily by the maids as well... The had turn down service which was nice, since our towels we replenished many times and ashtrays cleaned. Our view at night was really spectacular. Most of the building has lights on them with pictures of dragons from the new year. We were within walking distance to all of the markets, temple street, ladies, ect. ( about 10-15 minutes walk) We were also within walking to both the Hong Kong Island Ferry and the China/ Macau Ferry (about 10-15 minutes walk). We were right in the heart of the shopping district. Try to get away from your hotel a little a walk into the residential areas. YOu will find better and cheaper food.

“Standard Rooms Face The Great Wall Of Intercontinental”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Got wrongly driven to the ICT on the harbor and that was anyday a much nicer hotel then GS. Grand Stanford standard rooms are only a reflection of 4 star hotel with blocked view from the Great Wall Of Intercontinental. Though the room is sold as Garden view but it is a small garden below the Great Wall.
Over Priced ,, because the rooms are just about standard size. Though, one has to accept that the service is good and the rooms do show luxury.
Lobby is very small and Restaurants are good.
Overall a nice 4 star hotel if you dont mind paying high price for wall facing rooms.
In my experience, I have paid much lower price with double size rooms and stunning luxury and a view of the harbor in the nearby hotels. So, for me it is poor value of money, though hotel is still nice.

Room Tip: Try the Harbor view, if reasonably priced.

“Impressive, great bargain for the price. Amazing service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

I travel extensively. When visiting hong kong on part biz and part pleasure, on a defined budget, I searched everywhere for a good deal at a 4-5 star hotel in Kowloon. Found the two Intercontinentals, but couldn't decide between them. The grand Stanford was a better price, but not as closets the star ferry. Because of. My budget, I selected the grand stanford.

Next time, no matter what my budget is, I'll be booked here again and again...everyone raves about the staff and service. I agree. Carmen in the Club lounge (more about that in a minute), the head concierge, Tommy, the manager, front desk manager, service manager, doormen, lol...even the waiters in the. Incredible Chinese restaurant with 1 Michelin star! All incredibly helpful, kind, courteous and efficient.

The room was harbor view. There are two harbor view options - side harbor view and direct harbor view. The hotel has unblocked harbor views, sitting back 75 feet from the hong kong harbor. The side view rooms have decent views, but the direct harbor rooms may be worth the extra cost. Hong Kng harbor is its own entertainment. We slept with the curtains open watching the light shows, harbor shipping activity and the excitement of hong kong (we live in NY metro area, so not easily impressed by excitement :-)).

The club lounge is well worth the extra charges for a club level room! Full breakfasts, custom omelette , waffles, even dim sum and congee, plus an elegant buffet with smoked salmon, a variety of special breads, cheeses, nuts, fruit, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, bacon, two kinds of sausages, cappuccino, espresso, tea and regular coffee...

At tea time they offer a formal tea with scones and clotted cream, fruit, cookies, pastries and finger sandwiches, plus cold drinks, tea and the rest...

Predinner, appetizers (broad selection). Club level Internet access, typical biz perks of printing, photocopying and local faxes....but luxurious and beckoning at the same time. The staff remembers your name and how you drink your tea....

They have a small travel library set up, DVDs to borrow and play in your DVD-equipped room.

Perhaps best, they have a spa open until 1am, for those of us arriving late at night and needing reflexology or a jet-lag massage remedy.

Hotel. Airport pickup service was terrific. Fast, courteous, knowledgeable and perfect English from everyone involved.

You had a sense that everyone cared...
If in doubt of where to stay...don't over think it.

Great rates, great service, great location, great food, great water pressure and harbor views...will share pictures....

Parry Aftab

Room Tip: Club level if you can afford it. Worth joining Ambassador for the upgrade and late check out perks...

“Good Hotel, Great Spot, Overpriced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Maybe you can't get a good value room in Kowloon for New Year's Eve - or maybe the Intercon Grand Stanford is overpriced. There is certainly nothing wrong with the hotel. Clean, well appointed, great staff etc. But there is nothing outstanding that merits the huge price tag. The position is great - close to transport, shopping, restaurants etc. but not too busy. The views of the harbour are OK, but not panoramic. I doubt I would stay there again, unless I got a great deal.
