My husband and I stayed at The Langham for our honeymoon and have absolutely no regrets. The location is great--near the trains and a ton of shopping. Upon check-in, the front desk manager Jonathan escorted us into our room, showed us the amenities The Langham has to offer, and presented us with a bottle of Moet & Chandon rose champagne to congratulate us on our honeymoon. The bed was lush and comfy, and the bathroom was big and grand. I enjoyed sitting in the bath with a glass of bubbly, watching the TV from the window that separates the bathroom from the bedroom. No worries--they have blinds! And the bathroom has speakers for the TV. Really lovely experience.
We booked directly on the Langham website and got the best rate through their Linger for Longer deal, which included Wi-Fi and breakfast. It was probably the best deal for our entire honeymoon, which included stays in Thailand and Japan. The breakfast had many delicious Western and Eastern options, like noodles, congee, cheese, and pastries. They were also very helpful when I had a bout of food poisoning. Because I couldn't go down to breakfast, they sent up a bowl of congee. They also refilled our fruit plate daily. We ate dinner at Tang Court, which is their two-star Michelin restaurant. Very good deal for a two-person prix fixe; best hot and sour soup I've ever had (nothing like Westernized Chinese food!). The tea service at the Palm Court was lovely as well. The bar area is really small though and not quite as comfy and luxurious as typical fancy hotel bars.
As for things I wish I'd known before:
- The Langham offers a shuttle bus, but it's really a bus that a group of Tsin Sha Tsui hotels use, and you have to make stops at each one along the busy one-ways streets; it really adds to the time. Take a cab instead. It's only about $10 USD more for less hassle and a much faster ride.
- There's a mall with a food court next door, if you want a less expensive meal with many options (Taiwanese, Korean, dim sum, roast meats, won ton, teppanyaki, etc.). Tsim Sha Tsui is such a tangle of malls and small side streets that I completely missed this place, even though I was right next door!
- Watch your bags when you walk along Nathan Road. My iPhone disappeared from my bag during my first evening in Hong Kong. It really put a damper on our first night there.
- There are plenty of wine shops just on the other side of Nathan Road, across the street from the 7-11. Wine is pricey in Asia, so it's nice to have the option to purchase your own to drink while relaxing in your room.
- We brought fancy bath products so we could enjoy a nice soak in the tub. Turns out, they already provide bath salts.
