I've stayed at the Nikko 3 or 4 times now and every stay has been enjoyable. This hotel is definitely showing it's age a bit as the furniture and carpeting all look a bit dated. The rooms are also on the smaller side compared to the newer upscale hotels. If shiny, new, and spacious are what you're after then this isn't the place for you. What you do get though is a very clean room, a courteous staff, and a location in Tsim Sha Tsui that's an easy walk to the MRT, harbor, and Nathan Road. All for a price that really can't be touched by the bigger names in the area.
Last couple trips I've been given the option of upgrading to a "club" room after arriving which is a pretty good deal if you're traveling on business. $55 get you breakfast in the morning, internet access, and the club lounge where they serve snacks all day and free beer, wine and cocktails in the evening. Seeing as breakfast alone runs $30+ for the buffet it's pretty easy to get your money's worth. If I wasn't traveling on business and had more time I'd probably skip it though. The breakfast is just average or even slightly below. If I had more time in my mornings and it was my money I was spending I'd definitely be eating out in the city instead of trying to grab a quick bite in the hotel.
