My husband was there for a conference and we were given a place to stay at this hotel as it was near the Asia World Expo. I read the reviews and like what was reviewed by other travelers, service at the hotel is really quite appalling.
It took us a really long time to check in. We arrived in the evening and with 2 toddlers in tow, we wanted to check in fast. But we waited for almost 30 mins before some one attended to us. I asked why there were only 3 staff at the reception and he replied that the hotel is understaffed. Considering that this is a hotel with a few hundred rooms, surely more staff should be employed to meet the large number of guests? The funny thing was, there were a few people who kept coming out of the room and they didn't bother to attend to the long line of travelers waiting for their turn to be checked in. And what made matters worse was, the receptionist wrote the wrong room number on our card and we had to travel down again to get the right room.
Not only were they understaffed at the reception, they were also understaffed at the cafe where the buffet breakfast was served. No one comes to serve u and basically everything is self-served. So when you require a cup of hot milk, you need to hunt for the waiter. Why? Because they are either trying to replenish the food, running in and out of the kitchen or they are busy clearing away the plates. Food was alright but not the best I have eaten. Cuppaccino was dispensed from a DIY machine and somehow this doesn't do much when you have a large number of guests attending a conference and having breakfast before that.
We also had dinner at the Chinese restaurant and we waited for almost an hr before our food came. Reason: the chef had to shuttle between the restaurant and an on-going dinner event held that night.
My husband and I stayed at the club room while my kids stayed with my mum in a deluxe room. The club room was small but comfortable. At least the shower was good. The shower in the deluxe room wasn't working well. The Hot n Cold water shower was erratic and showering was quite a pain.
This hotel is best for just an overnight stay. We stayed there for 5 nights and we took the airport express to the city. It was convenient but if given a choice,I would not have stayed at this hotel. And why this hotel was voted the 'World's best airport hotel' beats the heck out of me.
