“An unpleasant stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

My husband was there for a conference and we were given a place to stay at this hotel as it was near the Asia World Expo. I read the reviews and like what was reviewed by other travelers, service at the hotel is really quite appalling.

It took us a really long time to check in. We arrived in the evening and with 2 toddlers in tow, we wanted to check in fast. But we waited for almost 30 mins before some one attended to us. I asked why there were only 3 staff at the reception and he replied that the hotel is understaffed. Considering that this is a hotel with a few hundred rooms, surely more staff should be employed to meet the large number of guests? The funny thing was, there were a few people who kept coming out of the room and they didn't bother to attend to the long line of travelers waiting for their turn to be checked in. And what made matters worse was, the receptionist wrote the wrong room number on our card and we had to travel down again to get the right room.

Not only were they understaffed at the reception, they were also understaffed at the cafe where the buffet breakfast was served. No one comes to serve u and basically everything is self-served. So when you require a cup of hot milk, you need to hunt for the waiter. Why? Because they are either trying to replenish the food, running in and out of the kitchen or they are busy clearing away the plates. Food was alright but not the best I have eaten. Cuppaccino was dispensed from a DIY machine and somehow this doesn't do much when you have a large number of guests attending a conference and having breakfast before that.

We also had dinner at the Chinese restaurant and we waited for almost an hr before our food came. Reason: the chef had to shuttle between the restaurant and an on-going dinner event held that night.

My husband and I stayed at the club room while my kids stayed with my mum in a deluxe room. The club room was small but comfortable. At least the shower was good. The shower in the deluxe room wasn't working well. The Hot n Cold water shower was erratic and showering was quite a pain.

This hotel is best for just an overnight stay. We stayed there for 5 nights and we took the airport express to the city. It was convenient but if given a choice,I would not have stayed at this hotel. And why this hotel was voted the 'World's best airport hotel' beats the heck out of me.

“Convenient and Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Stayed here for one night in January as a stop over in HK between Guangzhou and the US. The Regal connects directly to the airport though a short enclosed skywalk, so very convenient! You can even take your free airport luggage cart to the bell desk when you check in and when you check out your bags go down and are loaded back onto a luggage cart to return to the airport. We were a couple with a newly adopted child so this was a nearly stress free transfer. We also had dinner in the basic hotel resturaunt which looks like a buffet but has off the menu selections as well at reasonable prices. The kids menu is extensive and also reasonably priced. Our room was clean and comfortable and quiet for an airport hotel. They brought a nice crib for our child right up and I do not think there was an extra charge. The gym was nice, uncrowded and open long hours. Remember that HK requires a UK-style plug for electronic devices which is different than what you need in Mainland China. For a single night between flights this hotel is hard to beat, if only there were more like this in the US! I would not stay here if planning to spend time in HK proper as it is a long and fairly expensive taxi ride and (we were told) a little expensive by train as well, plus why would you want to miss the hustle and bustle and views of staying right in HK or Kowloon?

Room Tip: Probably is quieter to be on the side away from the run ways of the airport.

Dear Guest,

Thank You for sharing your comment with us. The skywalk is indeed convenience as it only takes five minutes walk from the airport to the hotel. Besides, our rooms are very comfortable, where you have wireless internet access in your rooms, so you can search for more information about Hong Kong and Lantau attractions. During the night it is really quiet due to many people that need to catch their first flights in the morning. Although, taxis are not cheap but besides taxis there are many other means of transportations that could blow you away from the airport which are buses that could take you to Hong Kong, Kowloon and New Territories or nearby Lantau.

Kind regards,

“Great Place!”

I have been staying at the Hong Kong Regal Airport, since it opened. It is in my opinion one of the best Airport hotels in the World. They have a great indoor outdoor pool, several different restaurants, a couple of great bars including my favourite, the China Coast, where Marco is the best bartender. The food is excellent wherever you go and what amazes me, I go into the bar and my drink is poured immidiatley! The rooms are spacious and the executive level club is very nice and you can get great snacks daily and they also serve breakfast.

Room Tip: Get a room on the executive floor, a little more expensive but well worth it.

Dear Guest,

Thank You for sharing your positive comments with us. Marco is one of our very best bartenders in the hotel he knows how to make many different kind of drinks for different guest. All the staff in the Regal Team is trained professionally. The food is really great if you have time, you should try some dim sum at our Rouge restaurant. It is always nice to have a spacious room in hotel so you can move around without walking out to the hallway. Let us know when is your next return.

Hoping to welcome you again to our hotel in the near future

“Dissapointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

When you arrive in Asia from Europe you tend to be struck by the quality of service at hotels. Well not here!! You could be in a London hotel - unfriendly check in staff, dated untidy room, and noisy guests. Never again

“Best Airport Hotel in Asia”

I havbe just stayed at The Regal for 2 nights and I must sayby far the best airport hotel I have stayed in for a long time./ It desrves its awards of the best airport hotel in Asia.
The team there has gone beyond the call of duty to accomodate my particular times for cleaning my room, my special diat requirements. All team members I have engaged with were very pro-active friendly and would not rest until I was satisfied, they have really gone beyond...and this for a hotel of this size (1200rooms). This is the first aiport hotels I felt they are really trying to give you a personalised experience...well done to The Regal Team.
Seeing the GM in the lobby actively engaging with guest was something I have not seen in an airport hotel for ages...my respect, your recipe for success is surely right! Based on my experience I can only highly recommend The Regal to frequent travellers! Thank you to the entire team to make my stay such a positivbe experience, I will be back!
