Based on previous reviews I expected great things from this hotel and they did not quite deliver. I stayed for 4 nights over the New Years Eve period and the hotel was full. And in all fairness I had just stayed at the Shangri-la Singapore – Valley Wing, the same hotel group but a different product.
The airport limousine transfer, clean and professional. The check in at the Horizon lounge efficient.
The horizon room, nice (not great and a bit dim), the bed quite firm, the bathroom quite small with only two towels. The shower was very small for a 5 star property.
The views are amazing and the Horizon Lounge or restaurant Petrus breakfast is very good with a great selection, the service however was slow and dishes ordered not quite what was requested.
Where the hotel did shine was the restaurants for dinner. We experienced both exceptional service and food at both the Summer Palace and Restaurant Petrus. The wine selections were excellent and very reasonably priced. But in both restaurants for diner, service was supreme. I did enjoy my second diner at Summer Palace where they remembered what we had ordered the previous visit and offered alternatives to explore the menu more fully. The food and innovation of the dishes was excellent.
Check out was again fast and efficient. We were escorted to the waiting car and then at the airport taken to the check in area. The hotel representative made sure all was okay before leaving.
Overall, a good hotel, okay service within the hotel and an excellent destination for the restaurants and restaurant services.
