The W chain is not ordinarily my cup of tea, but this one is pretty fantastic for the views, the quality of the rooms, and the gym.
The service--though very efficient--can be a little inconsistent. Maybe it's would-be hipster vibe, the club music, or the crazy light display, but the reception desk can be a little snobby when you check in. (It's also a bit convoluted--you have to take the lift upstairs to check in.)
My hotel room overlooked the western side of the Hong Kong harbour--containers and ships galore--which was very cool. The window is huge so there's a lot of natural light. The room is well-appointed with iPod docking station, a wide flat-screen tv, the usual W hotel CD and stereo, Bliss Spa products in the bathroom, great big beds, and a decent amount of space. The bathroom is also very large with a separate rainforest shower and huge tub (and a tv screen). It's also very quiet--no hallway noise, etc.
The gym is excellent and has even better views of the harbour and Hong Kong island. There's a wide selection of weight machines, treadmills, elliptical machines, etc. Fresh towels and ice-cold water plus very good a/c.
The rooftop pool is worthwhile, too, although it gets quite busy and somewhat scene-y on the weekends with people to-ing and fro-ng.
I did not try any of the bars or restaurants as HK has an excellent variety for far less cost.
The hotel is located in West Kowloon, right above a swank shopping mall and an MTR (subway) station so it's well positioned--especially from the airport (takes about 15 minutes on the express train). There are many decent restaurants and coffee shops in the mall plus a cinema that shows current films.
If you can wrangle a discount or a deal, the average room cost is not bad for a HK hotel of this calibre.

Hello asoloist,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience; I am delighted to learn that you had a memorable stay with us at the W Hong Kong and most aspects met your expectations. It is great to know you had enjoyed the hotel facilities including Wet – outdoor pool on 76/F while you were here.
I apologize if you found our service a little “snobby” upon check in. We are usually very vigilant in this regard as we do not want this to creep into our service culture here. If this was your perception, then I believe we have some work to do, and I have met with our Welcome Manager to discuss this.
asoloist, thank you once again for sharing your feedback with us and your support to W Hong Kong; please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly if I can be of your further assistance. I and my team sincerely look forward to welcoming you back to our World of W in a very near future!
Warm wishes,
