“Very good standard”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

The location is the best venue of the hotel: exactly in the heart of the city, very close to the shopping and business centers. The hotel is quite new, nice lobby and very nice rooms: spacious, clean and with lot of amenities. The staff has been very nice and helpful, they also reserved me my train ticket. I will definetly recommend it.

“Very nice rooms excellent appointments but some minor problems with staff communication skills.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2011

This is a centrally located hotel with good access to many different businesses and some great shopping. My overall assessment of the hotel is quite good but there are problems with staff communication skills, I blame management for this. In all cases the staff was very polite and did always try to assist the guests. The problem was that if you did not speak Mandarin you were in trouble. Most of the staff in the restaurants could not speak anything other than Mandarin. It is my contention that a hotel that is going to cater to a business clientele staff must be able to communicate with travellers from all over the world. English is spoken by most business people that travel often, whether it is there first language or not. Very few members of the front desk staff were able to speak English well and no one in the restaurants were able to communicate in any language other than Mandarin.

Where food and services are concerned I found it to be quite pleasant, nicely appointed rooms, clean, quiet and the restaurants had good quality food, great flavor with excellent service and appetizing presentation.

“The hotel staff needs to get a merit medal...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2011

Before writing this review I actually had to fight with myself for selfish reasons.
I knew that if I will write it - it might be harder for me to find reservations in the future. :-)
But as one knows how to fault and complain, one should also know how to compliment and laud.
I stayed at the executive floor, and as such - my review regards the relevant facilities / services .
The hotel is located in a very good spot (depending of course on your reasons for visiting) - taxis are always there and supermarkets / stores / restaurant are practically attached. also very close to the "liberation square" (now sponsored by Rolex)
The room is very cozy and nicely decorated, very large and comfortable bed , a working desk and a sofa / small sitting area .
Bathroom has both bath and a shower , and was spotless.
I did not even open the TV - but i saw that they have HBO and ESPN networks as well as the regular channels. Internet is VERY fast, and also wifi at the lounge.
Since the executive floors start at the 34th floor - there is nice view over the high rises of the city and the bridges on the river (daily smog permitting )
I am not a breakfast guy (Only coffee) but by the looks of it - there will be no problem to anyone finding their flavors at the buffet , which is served at the 39th floor executive club featuring an even nicer view to open the day with.
The Minibar is totally complimentary , and can be asked to refill when desired.
The executive lounge is open until midnight, and has hot and cold drinks, as well as fruits , small cakes or cookies, and even alcoholic drinks in the early evening.
All this was truly overshadowed by the incredible staff.
I am a "hardcore" business traveler, whom on the last 2 years counted more than 650 days in hotel (mainly in Asia) but I can easily say that the staff in this hotel is by far the most efficient, nice, and professional that I have encountered.
Every question, request or inquiry was not only immediately answered by the staff, but was executed a broad smile. (and with a very welcomed rarity in china - excellent English !!)
In fact, the staff impressed me so much, that It even triggered me to send a mail to the manager asking to acknowledge them on my behalf.
the only strange thing at the hotel (and I use "strange" because it is not really a problem) is that the hotel seems to share the buildings with some bureaucratic offices or the likes, so sometimes the elevator stops at the middle, and you feel like in another building/world for 20 seconds ...
Also the entrance is quite small and uninviting, but other than that - everything else was just perfect. No doubt where I will stay from now on when in Chongqing.

Room Tip: Take the executive floor.!

“A nice 5-star hotel at a good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2011

The entrance to the hotel is small for a 5-star hotel but once inside the hardware was pretty good. The room was comfortable and large. Internet access was fast and there was easy wireless coverage in the restaurant. Quality of the coffee during breakfast was disappointing, though.

The hotel is located within walking distance to the Liberation Monument, a landmark in this part of the city and located at the centre of a square designed for pedestrians only.

I had a great deal due to a corporate rate; so no complaint on the price. Overall I must I say I enjoy my stay there.
