Having read all the hype about this so called luxury hotel near Wanfujing, I booked two rooms for 5 nights for my family last week in Beijing. I have to admit I was rather disppointed to say the least and cannot undersatnd why this hotel is so highly rated by others! I have a few gripes. Firstly our room is a courtyard room which means there was a lot of glass areas and the heating system was appalling and we had to sleep every night with our socks on! The quilt was a filmsy thing which wasn't warm. The breakfast quite expensive by chinese standards was also very disappointing especially after 0900 when there was hardly any food left and they don't replenish. To add insult, whilst I was checking out in the reception, the girl asked me if we have used the mini bar and we don't as it was day light robbery. She used a walkie talkie and summoned house keeping ( in chinese) to do an urgent inspection of the rooms. I couldn't speak the language fluently but I can understand what was said. After I paid the final bill, it was reported that one of sons has actually used a small Nescafe coffee sachet which must be paid for at 26CNY. I told her proper hotels don't usally charge for such a small item besides it was not listed on the mini bar price list! Well, not wanting to end up in a chinese jail, I paid up - Would I stay here again, hell no, I rather be on the streets thanks!
Room Tip: We had a courtyard room, probably beststick to a nomal room in the winter. If you really want a good...
