We checked in late and the place was very difficult for the taxi from the airport to find. Make sure you get a really clear map to find it as it is down a hutong (small alley) and taxis won't be able to find it even if you get really close (I'd marked it on the map, but the scale was not close enough to show the smallest hutongs).
The hotel is very traditional in appearance and in general construction, but this also means it is a bit drafty and not particularly well insulated. At end of March, the temperature in Beijing can still dip towards zero at night, and with a fair wind, our first room was very cold overnight. The duvets thankfully were very thick so we were fine. Also the water heater in the room was hardly doing anything, so we had a cold shower. We'd booked the honeymoon suite so felt this room was not really up to what we felt we could expect.
That said, the staff were really nice and helpful and moved us to another room which was much nicer and did not seem so cold - and the water heater worked!
The breakfast of eggs and bacon was very nice although the dining areas are a bit drafty with people coming and going in and out of the courtyard as you eat.
The posted prices at reception were pretty steep, the posted price our first room was about 1200 yuan, which is around 160 USD. We got it a bit cheaper on the internet, but it is still pretty steep for a room which was not particularly big or luxurious and was really quite cold.
Overall though I think you need to go to this hotel on the understanding you're not expecting the most comfortable place, but looking for a small friendly and traditional place that will give you a more authentic experience of China. Also, I would be aware that the place is chilly in the winter; the aircon looked ok so it should be fine in the summer and when the weather is more mild from later April until maybe October.
So I would recommend this hotel with the above qualifications.
