“It was my last time stayed here.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

The room was small, the bed was small also. The location is ok, but if you want to go to the WangFuJing street, you have to walk about 40 minutes, to the Tian'anmen also need to walk 25 minutes. Taxi is not very easy to get here. The only convenient way is taking the subway.Walk about 10 minutes to the station, and Beijing's subway alway have lots lots people, we had to push in and out all the time, not very fun.For the price, what can you expected in Grand Mercure? We stayed in capital hotel few year ago in Beijing, we had more good experience there than in Grand Mercure, and the price just about the same.

Warmest greetings from Grand Mercure Beijing Central and we would like to express our most sincere thanks for your kind feedback during your stay with us.
We learned that the standard room didn't comfort you much, well noted by our front office manager and executive housekeeper, and they will have more training to teams of Front Office & Housekeeping– more initiative concern on guests, to know needs of guest in time and take appropriate action accordingly; and training to service center that effectively help guests when informed that guests encountered difficulties by coordinating with related department.
As what you mentioned, hotel located in Xidan business area, close to the city central. Walking along to the Tian An Men square, the Xidan shopping area and National theatre bring you different feeling of Cultural Beijing on the road. Surely, the concierge is very glad to help you to call a taxi when you would like to take another means for sightseeing.
At Grand Mercure, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. As for info, we have already scheduled to continue our 2nd phase room refurbishment plan commencing end of last year. By mid of 2012, all our guest rooms should be measured up to the highest level of comfort, which would be a great value point. Please be assured that we are taking efforts to have more improvement both on hotel facilities and services.
Thank you very much for your valuable comments again and wish you all the best. It’s our great pleasure of reception for your next stay!

“Forget the hotel if you don't speak Chinese”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Good location close to Tienanmen but don't forget that what seems close on Peking's maps could be miles away as roads are huge and endless. The hotel is quite dull and anonymous no charme if you are looking for somethint romantic just forget it. Very difficult wifi connection and no good price-quality ratio at the hotel restaurant. but above all staff service is very poor for a 4 star hotel. nobody will help you with your luggage and (almost) nobody speaks or even understands Emglish. We were promised an early breakfast basket as our flight was scheduled very early but on the next norning we had to leave without breakfast although it was -10°C as they had probably not understood our request. The problem is staff always say yes and then do nothing. The room and the bed were ok even if the bathroom would need refurbishing.

Dear Ms. Valentina,

Thank you very much for giving us the feedback on your recent stay with us at the Grand Mercure Beijing Central.

We regret that your experience did not meet up with your expectations, particularly with the English level as well as staff service. You concerns have been well noted by our Front Office Manager and F&B director, who will take immediate action on the improvement by more training to front line staff to better understand the needs of our guests, working initiatively for the luggage handling, well coordinating for guests issues. For the English speaking level, we are pushing staff to learn more skills up to Chinese tourism request and meeting guest’s needs coordinated by our Human Resource Department.

The said experience certainly does not in any way represent the quality of standards we strive for, and indeed customarily maintain at Grand Mercure Beijing Central. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.

Sincerely,
Grand Mercure Beijing Central

“Grand Mercure Oriental Ginza Shenzhen-Worst Grand Mecure Hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I just read about the unhappy customer who stayed on the Grand Mecure Beijing, whilst I have not stayed there, I too had stayed in Shanghai GM & thought all others would be the same standard, far from it. I recommend anyone thinking of staying at the Grand Mercure Oriental Ginza Shenzhen, to definately retink! service was bad, English was bad, carpet was so dirty & disgusting, after a long flight, I was too scared to take my shoes off and walk on it. Decor was old and falling apart, bathroom dirty & old. I changed room three times & eventually through exhaustion slpt in the third choice, uneasy all night.Alround BAD EXPERIENCE, have a nice stay somewhere else!

Hotel is realy easy accessible from airport - by shuttle buss
Near the major Beijing attractions - 5-10 min
Main room nice and clean, but bathroom ... not so clean
Staff is a little too relaxed
Sink was clogged, but they fixed it in 3 minutes after I announced
When we made check out the bill was for four days while we eat breakfast in the hotel for three days (fix in the end)
The pools was small but clean

“Good location, average hotel, needs urgent refurbishing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The hotel is located near Xidan area, with shopping malls, convenient transport with the subway and near the major Beijing attractions, if you are here for tourism. (I stayed for business)

It seems the hotel was nicely decorated when it was built, rooms are quite comfortable and warm in the winter, that is a key aspect for Beijing subzero temperatures, and the bed is nice to sleep on.

Unfortunately, the hotel needs serious maintenance. The carpet of my room was stained in more than one place, looked really dirty, the door was not closing well, the furniture in some parts show sign of being seriously worn out.

Service is OK.. neither good or bad, the Breakfast is expensive and bad for the quality and the variety of the food, not worth 149 CNY, considering that the room is 450 and that outside you can get a wonderful lunch for 2 people for that price.

If you want an average, good bargain hotel, near Xidan, is a good choice, but otherwise I would not come back here
