Just back from an 8 night stay at this hotel. After having read other reviews, I expected to find the hotel off the beaten path and away from most everything. This was simply not the case. The hotel is less than a 10 minute walk from a couple of subway stations, a taxi ride to the tourist areas was quick and inexpensive. We did not have any problems getting around the city from the hotel.
Our room was a standard room with 2 beds, it had every amenity that we needed, and was more than adequate for 2 people to spend time in. The bathroom was a good size; it had a full size tub (not used) and a large separate shower.
I agree with other contributors that the hotel is starting to look a bit dated, but this should not be a deciding factor about the hotel, as the building is extremely clean and we did not see any obvious outstanding maintenance issues.
We did eat in the hotel a couple of times, and we enjoyed the food and the service.
The best part about the hotel was the service. Every staff member that we came into contact with was friendly and helpful.
As a Starwood’s Platinum member, we had access to the Club Lounge, and I can only wish that the other hotels in the chain offered this level of service. The food and the service was excellent. The staff in the lounge also helped us with restaurant reservations, gave us helpful suggestions about what tourist areas to see and where the best shopping was. (thanks Rock!)
Would I recommend this hotel? YES! I am planning a return trip in May of this year.
