I spent a week here recently with a U.S. delegation. I don't have much to compare it to, as we only stayed at two hotels in China during the trip. However, I doubt it could get much better than this in China. The rooms were clean and beautiful with many amenities. The hotel itself is wonderful, and the staff is helpful and friendly. Most of the staff could speak at least a little English. The food was varied and good. I had one problem when my room wasn't clean and it was immediately taken care of by hotel staff. I would say this hotel is roughly the equivalent of an Omni in the U.S. No complaints whatsoever.

A good hotel. Reasonably priced with good comfortable rooms. Breakfast was good and the in house muslim restaurant offers authentic western china food which is very delicious.

The XiYuan Hotel is located in the West of Beijing close to the Beijing Zoo. The area of the hotel is almost in the middle of nowhere. Around the hotel are neither shops, nor bars, nor anything else. Close to the hotel (even I couldn't find it) seems to be a subway station of line 4, which closes at 22:30 in the eve.

The hotel is a former state-owned-hotel. Not sure whether it is still or privately owned today. The staff at the front desk is friendly. The hotel got a huge entrance area where you can also have a drink in the eve or breakfast in the morning. The hotel rooms are old and worn. The bed is very soft. The equipment of the rooms is acceptable. There is no mini bar on the room. The bathroom is equipped with a shower and bathtub. The hotel rooms are small and you feel a bit restricted inside.

The hotel is good for somebody, who just wants to discover and explore Beijing without huge costs for hotel. You need to be a little bit familiar with China, otherwise it could lead to problems to get out of this place or at least get back to there.

The hotel is acceptable for a short time economical trip to Beijing. Not recommended for a long term stay.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a tour in September. We found the hotel and rooms very pleasing but we did have a room on one of the non-smoking floors. There were always two bottles of complimentary water per day and a kettle but only herbal tea bags. Breakfast was satisfactory with a choice of both Western and Chinese options. The restaurant has a revolving floor- at a very slow pace- and there are plenty of tables. There is a small shop at the entrance to the Hotel and a Pizza Hut just across the road. Being on a tour we didn't have time to check out any other facilities in the area. All in all we enjoyed our stay here.
