This was the first hostel I stayed in on my month-long China tour, and let me tell you - it was the best place I stayed at because of the people I met there. The hostel has a great lounge area for meals and a huge sofa settee meant for hanging out, as well as some other tables. These are the ingredients for great conversations to start - as I found to my great delight and joy.
Besides the great people I met there, the dorm rooms were very spacious - there's enough space to live in without crawling over someone else's stuff, so it was very livable. The toilets on the 3rd floor are dusty and get a little gunky though, but they're cleaned often enough, and there is always hot water.
To improve:
- Toilets could use a few more hooks in the bathroom to help people dress without dropping stuff on the floor
- None of the lockers in my dorm room worked, which meant that I had to leave my valuables at the front desk, which worked out well enough, but I would have liked to have a locker nearby
- They should have offered me the option of purchasing the YHS China card so that I could get a discount immediately on the hostel stay.
