We stayed at the Loong Palace hotel as part of a tour package. The hotel is rated as a 5* hotel in China, but if you compare this to other international 5* hotels, then i would have put it to a 4*.

Rooms were large and comfortable, beds were very very big and the beds were very soft and comfy.

There were no problems at all staying there and fuss free, everything was clean and the bathroom was huge! There was a bath tub (doesn't fully fit in a 5.7" person head to toe!) and there is also a shower, not as much power in the shower as i would have liked, but satisified.

Breakfast was a buffet, and has a mixture of pastries, cornflakes, hot and cold milk, tea and coffee, a very strange mixture of Chinese food for breakfast (spring rolls/noodles), Congee ( a bit watery).

Although the breakfast food was not my liking for breakfast, there was a chef who would make omelettes of fried egss for you.

Overall, i would recommend this hotel, one of the largest and cleanest hotels i've been to.

While this gem seems distant from the center of Beijing, it offers so much more for the traveler than the much more expensive hotels in the city's inner rings: larger rooms, great service, great food, and a fantastic spa. It's much closer to the Badaling Gate of the Great Wall (make sure you go into the free museum) and Ming Tombs . You can easily rent a car for the day or take cabs to all the sights of the congested city (Silk Market, Tianamen Square, Summer Palace, Forbidden City) and when you return to the elegant luxury of this hotel and can make a spa appointment to soothe those tired feet the same evening, you'll appreciate even more it's quiet location. The fitness facilities are large and they offer classes in yoga, swimming, etc. The buffet breakfast included with the room is excellent and their pastries and breads rival those of European patisseries. A new train station nearby will come on line this fall and should make access into the city even easier.

Great food..decorated for Christmas with carolers too...very beautiful hotel.
