“Bad experience with hotel car rental”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We stayed in Prime Hotel and requested the hotel transport car rental on December 2011 for our family of four, for the tour of Great Wall and Olympic stadium. We visited Great Wall in the morning, and with the hotel driver recommendation, we stopped at one of the road side restaurant. We had invited the driver to eat with us, as we could not understand most of the Chinese. We had order 3 dishes, the total bill was $1,138 RMB. The driver could not help much, I was planning to call for local authority to intervene, but my wife wanted move on as we got two young children with us, I finally agreed to pay $1,000.00 RMB for this lunch.

We have placed my faith in the hotel arranged transport, even it cost $1,000.00 RMB vs outside rate of $400.00 RMB, because of the hotel security and trust. It is disappointing the local driver taking hotel guess to the road side eatery that grossly overcharges oversea tourist. One would wonder the nature of this incident as the link between the driver and road side eatery.

We have lodged a complaint to the Hotel about their driver, but there is no reply til now.

“Perfect Prime Location”

We were advised that this hotel is a superb location in Beijing.

One can walk the Wangfujing Lu to Forbidden City and other locations nearby.

Great for exercise and the shopping malls.

They were right!

We stayed here at the Prime Hotel on Wangfujing Lu for 4 nights. It was magic!
A lot of TAers say it is expensive. well for some maybe as there are many many hotels in Beijing some better, some worse. Some cheaper and some more expensive.

The reception we received was excellent from the staff. They spoke excellent English. My wife spoke to them in chinese and they would also speak to me in English. How extremely polite!

We asked to see a couple of rooms and we selected a lovely suite that suited us perfectly. There was my wife and myself. we had lots of room and that was what we wanted.

The rooms were spacious, light and very cosy.

The breakfast was 110%! There was both Western and Chinese and you could eat as much as you liked. The catering staff were very very good indeed!

We used the travel agent in the hotel and they got us excellent prices for the tours. I also used a taxi for time saving. No worries about price the bell boy helped and got us a great deal! he was rewarded hansomely on out departure.

We walked many places every day.

The meals at the hotel were excellent although we ate out most days.

The rooms very clean and the service staff wonderful.

I would certainly stay here again infact we have agreed for our next trip to Beijing to stay again in a suite.

Well done all staff and thank you.

“Decent hotel, in good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

Well located for Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and shopping. The hotel is large with an international corporate feel and, although there was an abundance of dark marble, it didn't seem particularly dated. The room was modern, large and clean and the breakfast was good. Only stayed for two nights on a three day return trip from the UK so didn't use many facilities, but what we saw was good.

“A very pleasant experience”

A friend in Shanghai recommended this hotel and we had a very nice experience there. Our room was lovely: spacious, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. The hotel is located close to to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City and that was important to us (although the subway system is really so easy to use in Beijing that we could have stayed in other areas). We loved the breakfast buffet which is both Chinese and continental. The servers were attentive and courteous.
The hotel staff were incredibly helpful arranging for a tour to the Great Wall as well as taxis to restaurants and other sites. All in all, I would recommend the Prime and go there again.

“Slightly past its Prime, maybe by 3 decades....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

Came into Beijing for business, the Prime hotel was booked for convenience to project site only. This hotel is a little long in the tooth to be called Prime. The location is fine. The room was passable, with 70s black marble baths and fixtures. At first glance I thought it was dirty but after some thought, maybe that was the intent. Theres a handpainted mural behind the headboard which had some interesting preschool graffiti added to it. This kid had the whole mural to himself and went to town, Sort of makes you wonder if housekeeping ever looks up from making the beds...Breakfast buffet was not good, lots of variety but not good. One morning I chose some fruit to start and evidently they chose to cut onions earlier that morning with the same knife. Pretty gross. Lots of reheated chinese food with lots of things you'd find at a bad salad bar. Later I learned that breakfast becomes the lunch buffet so why not leave the veggies and dressings out for a few hours to warm up? Baked goods were devoid of taste but had lots of texture, reminded me that sawdust was the main ingrediant.
Overall, I think this hotel could be way better, the staff is not bilingual and doesnt try either. Tried the hotel restaurant on my last day where a complementary fruit platter arrived garnished with a huge mosquito.
When I thanked the waitress and declined, she moved the plate to the next table. 5 * I think not.

Room Tip: Dont stay here.
