The hotel is famous in Beijing and taxi drivers had no trouble finding it. The lobby is huge and made of marble and stone. It contained a number of overstaffed restaurants, overpriced gift shops and pianos that we could only look at but not touch. For those that are interested, the piano in the main lobby is a zen-on, they have "professionals" on it on most evenings during dinner time.
The superior rooms are quite generous in size, furnishings are middle class traditional and the bathrooms are equipped with bathtub and foam. The beds themselves are very hard (just the way I like it), the pictures are a bit misleading, the foot warmers were not there.
Room service needs improvement, on our second day they forgot to replace our toilet paper, on our third day they replaced our toilet paper but did not place it on the handle, on our 3rd and 4th days, they didn't replace our shampoo and conditioner. They knock when we are on "do not disturb" and call when we don't answer the knocks and they talk loudly in the corridor almost like they are trying to force us into letting them in for room service.
Coincidentally my old man stayed in the deluxe rooms during the same period with some of his business clients, I visited his room and they were about 30% larger and costs only a few dollars more per night. Next time I visit Beijing I will definitely stay in them instead.
