“A real disappointment”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

We were completely fooled by the pictueres and info on the website. Sure thing, the hotel WAS very nice to look at. But really not nice living in...
First we got a room with a worthless AC and a refrigerator that did not work. We complained about this and first the staff said it was supposed to be like that. That the refrigerator should just look like one but not be used like one. Yeah.... So we talked to another staffmember in the evening and told him about our problems, because our room was way to hot, sweating like animals.... And he took us seriously and made it possible for us to change room, but he did not mention that WE HAD TO PAY for that change... And I still dont understand why we had to pay.... And "surprisingly" BOTH the AC and the refrigerator worked, but instead we got huge leaks in our bathroom everytime after taking a shower... One morning we ordered roomservice and wanted breakfast in the morning, but no one came... And our biggest complaint is about their nonexisting WIFI, its told in the website AND their own website that all room should have FREE WIFI. but we were told that the room only provided cable internet...

So actually, I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. I would even prefer a small hostel before this.

Room Tip: Dont bother visit this hotel, you will only get disappointed. Before this hotel, we stayed at a host...

Dear Miaoo,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

I am truly sorry to read that you were disapointed with our services. I would like to apologize, on behalf of Pullman Beijing South Management and ACCOR.

I have looked into your stay record and I would like to answer to your comments.

Firslty, I know that the A/C has been an issue over the summer. This was due to a harware issue and will be fixed through renovations by next summer. As far as the frige is concerned, this was obviously a miscommunication issue for which we are totally responsible, but our fridges are obviously supposed to be cold.

The reason why you had to pay for the room change is because you upgrated your room type, and the reason why you upgraded is because there were not other standard rooms left on the night. However, since it was our fault that you had to change to another room, the updrade should have indeed been free of charge, which is what we usually do and we have taken measures to make sure it does not happen again. I would be more than happy to rebate you the extra cost next time you visit Beijing.

The leaks in the bathroom has also been fixed. I have also checked in our system what happened to your in-room breakfast. I found out that your order was never recorded, for which I am really sorry. I can assure you that we do provide room service in a timely manner though.

As far as the internet is concerned, I am afraid there had been a miscommunication issue on your side. Our website does not say that there is Free Wifi in all rooms, it says that there is free broadband internet in all rooms, which is the case, and that the Wifi is available on a paying basis. However, we do provide Free Wifi in the public areas such as the restaurants, the lobby and the bar.

I would like to thank you once again for taking the tame to contact us. Your feedback is of great help for us.

Best Regards

“Hate this hotel!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

stayed in this hotel for about 1.5 weeks. probably the worst stay for my business travel so far.
1) Room
requested for a non-smoking room at point of booking. Upon check in, they gave me a smoking room. Spoke to the front desk twice (2 dibut was told there's no more availability of non-smoking room. Finally spoke to the booking manager, was told the same thing about non-availablity of non-smoking room. Held on to the conversation for another 15min, and told them i have asthma attack and only then, they represented that they managed to "squeeze out a non-smoking room".
2) Lobby Lounge
Ordered coke and requested for ice cubes. Was told off by the waitress in chinese " There's no ice cubes. The coke is already cold, why do you still need ice cubes". She gave me a stare and walked off."
3) Subway
Absolutely no where near to the mrt station. Website represented that it's like 5min walk. In reality is definitely about 15min. And given Beijing air condition no one will enjoy the 15min walk to the subway.
4) Location
Not near to anything (dining, supermarkets). And the ridiculous thing is that the hotel supermarket sells soft drink at RMB30. Apparently trying to rib off the guests since there's no shops/supermarkets nearby. Its about 45min-1hr (depending on traffic) to get to town, very difficult to get a cab from town back to hotel as most taxi driver refuse to get into 5th ring room. As such, if your office is not near Pullman, please don't stay in Pullman.

Dear Catherine,

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback.

I am sorry to read that you experience with us was not as enjoyable as it should have been.

We are aware of the fact that there is still room for improvement at our Hotel and you are priving us with precious help by sharing your concerns.

I acknowledge the fact that your non-smoking preference should have been respected on check-in. I can assure you that we do our best to respect those preferences, but it happens that when the hotel is really busy, we cannot always do so. I have personally checked in our system, and I found out that the occupancy was extremely high when you stayed with is in July. Morevoer, the mix of smoking / non-smoking guests is never really the same and does not necessarily match our floors division. I am, however, happy to read that our staff made it happen for you when you mentionned your asthma issues, since your health and safety are priority matters for us.

The waitress should definetly have given you ice-cubes if you wanted some. This issue has been mentionned to our Director of Food & Beverages.

As far as the subway station is concerned, I am afraid you didn't go to the right station or were given wrong directions, which is also our fault anyways. The Rongchangdongjie station is indeed 5 minutes walking from our Hotel, but I can understand that given the summer heat it might have seemed longer to you.

I understand your concerns regarding our location. It is true that the BDA area is still growing and there will definetly be more shopping/dining venues in the near future. For your information, our hotel shop is not manager by us, it belongs to another company which sets the prices. We have, though, told them that the prices may be too high on drinks and food.
However, the is a shop right behind our hotel, about 2 mns walking, which sells drinks at the local price.

We are operating in the BDA area precisely because most of our guests are working close to the hotel, and it is very convenient for them to stay with us hence avoid the city centre hectic traffic. But you are very right to point out that, if you do not have any business to do in the area, it does not make sense to stay here.

The closest and most popular entertainement area in Beijing is Sanlitun and it is actually 30 mns driving from our Hotel, obviously depending on traffic but there is hardly any jam on the highway.

Once again, thank you for your comments. I would also like to apologize on behald of Pullman Beijing South Management and Accor for your experience with us.

Best Regards

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Pullman Beijing South.

I am very sorry to read that your stay was not as enjoyable as it should have been. We do strive to improve our general level of service and your feedback is a very important matter to us.

Firstly, you are right about our location, we are operating in a business area since we are selling rooms for business travellers, therefore our products is not designed for tourists. There are other ACCOR sister hotels in town which are more convinient for leisure purposes.

As for the air-conditioning, I am well aware that we have had some issues over the summer and I am sorry that your sleep was troubled. However, this was due to a hardware issue that could not be fixed by our engineering team, but I can assure you that we did not decide to same money to the detriment of customers.

Regarding the food and the service in our Buffet restaurant, you pointed out a lack of variety and issues to communicate with our staff. I would like to let you know that we are currently thinking about a new set of dishes for the buffet, and on the other hand training our staff to improve their english skills. However we do have a few members of the staff who speak very good english, please feel free to ask for a manager to look after you next time you visit us.

Once again, thank you for you time.

Best Regards

“Ok.....Not Great but Kind of OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2011

I went to china for a business trip. I stay for 4 days in pullman hotel. Though the hotel looks pretty nice and has very good rooms...i was not impressed with A/C and temperature. The room service was also no that great as i dont know chinese, they dont have any staff who can speak english. I was not expecting this from this kind of top category hotel. So, the trip was ok ok. I never felt like staying in a five star hotel. I think this hotel is a five star hotel. or It might be that five star hotel in india has different mean. Also, we will not find any market place near to this hotel. You have to take a cab and pay 10 yuan to reach near by any market place. Also, this hotel is quite far from CBS means central business district. But the metro station is quite near to hotel, a walkable distance. If you have any work near by the area, then it is a nice hotel to stay.

Though i like the food there and got some indian food there also. Rooms are more than decent and location to my client place are the two positive of the hotel.

Hope my review will help you to find you the perfect hotel.

Dear Rajesh,

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. Your opinion is the most important thing to us and I am glad to adress the poblems you pointed out.

Regarding the AC issue, it is true that we had a few issues with our system over the summer, when the occupancy was high. I can assure you that we are trying our best to solve this problem. It is also true that we have to continuously train our staff to improve their english skills, it is a long term project and one of our priorities.

As you mentioned, we are located in a fast developing business area, therefore we are mainly surrounded by head-offices and factories, but there will very soon be much more shops and dining venues.

Once again, thank you for your feedback, we hope to see you soon again at Pullman Beijing South.

Best Regards

“Soulless in suburbia...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2011

...well, not exactly suburbia but south east Beijing development area. Its a bleak landscape and there is no reason to stay at this hotel other than you are working nearby. Its modern and fully equipped but severely under-occupied when I was there and with no atmosphere at all, even the bar had more staff than customers. The staff try their best (I think) but need more training and higher English skills and management needs to be present, which it was not. The food in the main restaurant was distinctly average and 'tired', looking like it had been around just a tad too long. Hotels are about service and without it are nothing. Maybe the hotel will develop with its surroundings, otherwise Accor will have a white elephant on their hands.
