I have been a regular visitor at this hotel for the last 4 years visiting either during the easter period or over the christmas / new years holiday.
Even though the standards have not vastly improved over the years they have managed to maintain a set of standards that you would be hard pressed to find in any of the other Mombasa town hotels (& some beach hotels).
Things I liked were the; rooms (you can sleep the whole day no one will disturb you), accommodation cost, location and convenience, room service and food (even though the roof top restaurant has lost its edge / quality) ease of obtaining taxis, its free from loiterers / hawkers and prostitutes, the peace and quiet and friendly front desk staff.
Things I didnt like. Breakfast set up and food - been the same for four years - not a set up for a hotel of this standard - drop of quality in the roof top restaurant food and sharp increase in price, some rooms have faulty / smelly air conditioning units, 'pressure less' showers, sleeping night guards (when you come back at 2am the hotel front door is locked - must enter thru casino - only to find night guard sprawled on lobby sofa sleeping away), lack of parking (if you have your own vehicle).
All in all it is a great place to stay both for business or pleasure. Wi Fi is great, and so is the business centre. Very helpful. Manager and front desk staff very helpful, polite and jovial.
If your in Mombasa on transit (safari or onward booking), or there just for a few days whether visiting to sample the coastal town, or your an all night party hound, or your there for that weekend get away dont stay anywhere else in town no matter what your advised. Stay at Royal Court - You will find it the most worthwhile town hotel at the coast.
