“"best camp in mara...above all expectations"”

Jambo ! On our recent safari to kenya we stayed in 3 different camps out of which Kicheche Bush camp was the Best. The prime thing to have when on safari is a good guide ..and Kicheche has the best guides in mara.

Location : The location is perfect for personalized game viewing(not many people around) . When we landed at the OLK airstrip there were just 2 cars waiting out of which one was ours. Our guide Patriick (amazing guide) who was very knowlegable and made sure we had a good game drive. The drive from the airstrip to the camp itself has lots of game....we saw hippos, elephants, giraffe, buffalos, and also a leopard just few steps away. Over the 3 days we saw prides of lions, cheetahs, herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, topis, gazelles etc etc. while on a bush walk we were lucky to see one of the small five- rhinocerous beetle..our bush walk guide was Nelson who was equally knowlegable and gave us a lot of info on the vegetation and wildlife around...the camp itself has so many stunning birds too !

On arriving at the camp we were welcomed with hot towels by the camp managers Darren and Emma(now friends) who were the best hosts I have come across. They both loved their work which was reflected in everything they did at the camp....they even took care of our water bottles ! we've had some lovely conversations over lunches,dinners,bonfires.....The 6 tents are well spaced and each tent is fantastic.

Food: Being vegetarian , we were a little worried about this . I can say this was the best vegetarian fare I have had so far on my holiday...simply delicious - a perfect blend of all spices and veggies. vincent took care of our food and wine ....i always over ate !

You must only go to Kicheche Bush camp - .the guides will make sure that you definitely see a lot of game , masai staff will pamper you a lot , askaris will keep you safe, Darren and Emma will make you feel at home !

I would highly recommend this to everyone and I m definitely going back !

“Totally Amazing!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Every aspect of my 7 nights in Bush Camp were totally amazing. On arriving we were met by Nelson and Mark, our guides for the week. We saw the big 5 in under 30 hours so it couldn't have been better. The guides spotted, Lion, Cheetahs and Leopards I couldn't even see with binoculars! The occomodation was top notch too, very roomy tents with all you need for a very comfortable stay. The staff were great also; Darren and Emma were so welcoming and are now considered friends rather than camp managers. The other staff, from the askaris working at night to keep you safe, to the Masai staff serving you during the day, you couldn't have asked for anything more. I was well looked after and well fed..... which brings me to a subject very important to me; food! The cuisine was amazine, the food was cooked perfectly and I never went hungry.

I've not stopped recommending this place to my friends and colleagues and can't praise it enough. I can't wait to go back....

“What a wonderful experience!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed at the Kicheche bush camp for 4 nights in January and if I had my way I wouldn't have left! Firstly, we were met at the airport by our fantastic guide, James, who took us on a game drive on the way back to the camp. We were fortunate enough to see a leopard only a few yards from our vehicle, but that was only the beginning...in 4 days we saw several prides of lions, a family of cheetahs, countless elephants, white rhinos etc. I could go on! On arriving at the camp we were warmly welcomed by Darren and Emma and we sat for a chat with a much needed cold beer. Their warmness and enthusiasm never wavered throughout our stay and they were such a pleasure to eat, drink and socialize with! The tents were lovely, especially the hot water bottles placed under the duvet at night, and our askari's were incredibly attentive and kind. The food was really really good, the setting idyllic, the company ideal...all in all it was an unforgettable holiday! Many thanks all the Bush camp team!

“kicheche camp”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

My wife and I just returned from two weeks in East Africa. We visited four camps and definitely rated Kicheche as the best. We used a rating scale with eight categories and they ended up with the highest score. The categories included management, accomodations, food, vehicles, driver/guide, etc. This was safari number six, so we have visited many camps in both Kenya and Tanzania. Kicheche was pleasant and enjoyable in every respect.

“great bush camp, great game!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Second visit to Kicheche Bush camp and just as good as last time.
Superb camp staff, guides and managers Emma & Darren.
Small personal camp, tents are big & comfortable. Food is fantastic (you won't go hungry) and some of it is from their own garden.
As with all Kichche camps, guides and vehicles are brilliant for photography as well as game viewing.
Great views of lions (lots of cubs), cheetahs and leopard as well as lots of plains game.
Will remember forever the four cheetahs playing on the haystacks at dawn.
Very highly recommended!
