“Amazing place to stay!”

We (family of 4) have just spent 5 days at Governors camp and it was just fantastic. We have visited camps in South Africa, but decided to try Kenya this time and were so pleased we did.The Masai mara is breathtaking, then add a huge amount of game, a luxury camp with exceptional service and attention to detail and a perfect location on the banks of the Mara River- fantastic. We had a really knowledgable and friendly ranger (Jackson) who took us out each day and tried very hard to locate what we especially wanted to see- still never managed to find the elusive leopard, but definitely next time!

we arrived here with lovely flannels to wipe our faces with, then was taken to our wonderful tents WOW 5* and a lovely soap stone hippo for all us and a lovely note .we then had a lovely meal and then went off on our first game drive with our fantastic guide MUSA who knew the mara like the back of his hand ,within 15mins he found us 2male 1na 1 female lions ,which was amazing we saw lots of other game then returned to our camp for our evening meal which was lovely again, sitting at the bar with a tuskers beer and so close to a mother hippo with her 3 weeks old baby and 2 older babies was amazing ,then the Genet cat came for food as she went a bush baby came, this was wonderful, when we arrived back to our tent and got in bed a lovely hot water bottle :)
our first night we didnt sleep much as we were listening to what was going on outside the camp comes to life when your in bed .
we did 4 days on safari and our morning drive we stayed out from 6am to 12 and had a wonderful picnic on the mara planes ,what an amazing lunch eating it with animals so close,
MUSA knew all the best places to go for which cats , we had a bumpy ride to see 2 12weeks old leopard cubs sitting in a tree with a gazel then one came down and hid in the grass,
i also spotted a caracl which i really wanted to see ,
every night after our game drives we enjoyed beer over looking the river,
we also met Jonathan and Angie scott which was so nice as i love watching BIG CAT DIARIES ,
This camp has to be the best place ever as the staff were all so kind and lovley,we will miss the place so much but will definatley be returning
THANKYOU MUSA for us seeing so many of the big cats we love and THANKYOU to all the wonderful staff there

Well well, where do I begin.( Bloody fantastic.) A brill camp to go to. The hospitality spot on, Phillip and Katy who manage the Camp are very nice and very hands on. As we arrived and entered into the site, I could not believe the view. Imagine sat having breakfast or lunch looking out on the Masai Mara with no fence to stop these wild animals from just walking into camp at any time. You look down on the the Mara river with the hippos, who can just walk out of the river and walk up the bank to where you are. The tents are not just ordinary ones, these are top notch very large with great hot showers. So many personal details are added, lovely bottle of wine on arrival and hot water bottles in your bed on an evening, as the temp does drop. Small animal carvings left on the bedside table for you. The jeeps are very comfy but do remember you are on Safari . We had Peter as our guide, he was great, explained everything and also found all the big 5 for us. Ask for him he is good. The food at the camp is out of this world. All the staff work so hard to please you, always with a big smile, but the one with the biggest smile is Captain on the camp gate. We booked the Safari through J.T. Safaris and I will say Julius does know his job, so do book with him. Ask your Hotel for his No. and they will arrange it . This is one of the most amazing places and journeys we have done. Don't miss out on it. Get this camp booked you will not regret it. I would not say it if I didn't mean it. So go for it you will love it .

Room Tip: We stayed in tent 25 which looks over the Mara River.

We stayed here for 3 days as part of our honeymoon. The welcome was amazing, the camp cation perfect and the service top notch. The lunch was served out on the grass as was breakfast, cooked on open grill, with great flavours and service. Dinner was in he dinin room, open o the trees so ou could see the lephants wandering around a the edge of the camp. Wildlife was phenomenal and the guides were so well knowledged but so committed to their camp! Thank ou. Great start to our fantastic stay in east Africa.
Sleep quality I have marked as excellen as I loved being woken by an elephant walking past the tent. Wow.

Room Tip: The tents are lovely and ht wat bottle bought to the room each night! Just great

“Fantastic Stay”

Our 4th time to this camp, and each time it never fails to amaze, 4 days in january 2012. A new manager makes sure everyone of the staff is on their toes to ensure the best possible service, plus, always have time for a friendly chat.
Julius Nzumbi of JT Safaris arranged our trip, he sorted the best viewing tent, and a super driver, what service, unbeatable in our opinion.
The first time we have been here and not seen a single Wildebeest, but the difference is amazing, long grass makes spotting more of a challenge, the lions are hungry, Cheetah, hard to spot, but the Elephants, wow, there are hundreds enjoying the long grasses and water, this place is like paradise, plus for the first time we saw a leopard.
Hot water bottle in your bed at night, listening to hippo grazing outside, awoken by a fantastic dawn chorus, a truly beautiful camp, Thank you Julius and the Govenors Camp staff.

Room Tip: A tent numbered over 30 will give super views over the Mara Plains, others will have views of the ma...
