My husband and I joined 10 other fellow photographers on the most spectacular safari! We stayed for 5 nights in Rekero Camp in the Masaai Mara National Reserves. The accommodations and camp facilities were wonderful! From the first day to the last, we were treated very well! We were greeted on the first day with pineapple juice (full of pulp-yummy!) and each afternoon when we returned from the bush, we were able to wipe our hands and faces with warm washcloths steeped in eucalyptus! Doesn't get much better than that! The beds were very comfortable. Our tent was on the bank of the river and we could observe animals in the distance as they grazed. The service we received was first-class and completely exceeded our expectations! The dining tent faced the river; however, breakfast and lunch were served along the river bank. We were able to see the wildebeest crossing the river and an occasional hippo rise from the water. From morning until night, our time was planned to take advantage of the animals that roam the Mara. The scouts/guides led us to the best sites for photography and just observing the wildlife. We were able to see lions (including one named Notch) napping and eating, lionesses hunting, and 3 2-month old cubs. We also had an opportunity to fly over the animals; Risa was one of the guides who flew with us (a 4-seater; Risa's first trip on an airplane). I have never been pampered as well anywhere I have traveled. Even the camping was luxurious with warm showers and flush toilets. Nothing was left to chance; these are first-class accommodations. After 6 days, leaving Rekero was like leaving my family. I must admit that I got quite emotional, because the staff became friends. I look forward to the time when I can return.
