“Superb”

I won't repeat the many other 5 star reviews here but suffice to say this is a memorable romantic getaway destination. Excellent value and high standard. In the night you'll drift off under canvas surrounded by a sleepy safari soundscape. You could almost be listening to a 'sound effects of the bush' recording. The deluxe tents with inside & outside shower at the far end are more remote and private - but 5-10 min walk from the hotel. Enjoy your stay for a few nights then (reluctantly) move on.

Room Tip: The deluxe tents with inside & outside shower at the far end are more remote and private - but 5...

“5 star excellence with the best service imagineable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Stayed here for three days and it absolutely blew my mind. The location is fantastic and very luxurious, with fabulously comfy tents/rooms. All of the staff were hugely friendly and helpful, especially the guy whose job it is to chase monkeys away! The guides were very knowledgeable, and even when you are driving around looking for big game but not finding any, the guides are always great fun. We also had a fairly tasty game of football with the hotel staff out in the bush. Great fun!

I can't recommend this experience highly enough, it was perfect.

“Superb - awesome location and five star service”

I stayed at the Fairmont Mara Safari Club over the New Year with my fiancee in order to spend three days on safari.
The camp is well located in an oxbow on the Mara river and gives excellent views of hippos and other fauna coming and going, particularly whilst you are eating your breakfast and lunch.
Food is buffet style throughout and excellent, and often accompanied by song and dance by the locals/hotel employees - who always seemed to be enjoying themselves and really added to the atmosphere.
There is a very personal touch to the service - we had the same waiter, room attendant and driver throughout - all of whom provided first class service.
Each suite is a luxury tent with an incredibly comfortable bed - easily the most comfortable that we have slept on, good mosquito netting, a free safe and ensuite shower and toilet. Free wifi is available within the hotel but does not reach out to the tents.
It goes without saying that despite the excellent facilities (although there is no gym), the reason for coming here is to see the game. We saw the Big 5 on our first drive, and were also extremely fortunate to see a Cheetah make a kill, but there is much more to see as the countryside is simply stunning, and wildlife abundant. Our guide was excellent and definitely added value. The camp is surrounded by an electric fence, which is just as well, as we saw a lioness within 100m on one drive. We also conducted an early morning ramble accompanied by a guide and guard, which was good value for money and slightly different from travelling by vehicle.
Don't expect any late nights - most people are in bed by 2200hrs, mainly owing to the early starts for the morning's first game drive. Be prepared to take a hat and gloves as it can get pretty cold in the morning, particularly in the back of the jeeps.
The short plane ride between Ngrende and Nairobi was the least enjoyable aspect of the this trip, but don't let this put you off - this was a once in a lifetime visit that was delivered entirely to my expectations and I thoroughly recommend this camp to any visitor to the Mara.

Safari club is an amasing 5xxxxx tented camp with al facilities you can get. You are staying at about 50 meters from the Mara river and with a little luck you can see hippotames, crocks swimming in front of you. At the other site of the river, about 200 meters, you can see lots of animals, lyons, impala, monkeys, etc.
The food is served , by your personnal weighter , also available day and night in your tent,
just a few meters from the river. Foods are presented as an open buffet with a large variation on ingrdiants, from local to continental. Bevereaches are not included, but prices are the same in Europre or USA.
You certainly must do as many as possible dose famous game drives. If you can go for the nine hours game drive, witch starts about 6AM and goes to 6PM. You will see the famous
migration accross the mara river .
The masai mara always garantees you to see the big five. I made this safari already for two times and the first day i got him al five.

Room Tip: Go for a room number between 10 and 15, than your near to a sleeping creek for hyppo's, but wat...

“you must stay here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We had a romantic three nights here for our September honeymoon. The service was lovely, our game driver was wonderful, the suite (tent/room) was romantic, the food was good, the Masai performance was fun, there's nothing bad to say about this place.

In late Fall the evenings got a bit cool but after dinner we returned to our room to find a hot water bottle in our bed - so cozy!

I would definitely recommend this lodge! It was perfect or our honeymoon.
