My sister and I began the 'trip of a lifetime', flying from Nairobi Wilson Airport to the Masai. We were met by Jeffrey and Francis, driver and guide, and as we had managed to get an early flight, immediately set off on a game drive (it would have been good if there had been water in the vehicle).
Upon arriving at the hotel, we were warmly welcomed, showed to our room, which was lovely - beds comfortable, towels good, but did need extra pillows. The food was excellent, perhaps could be varied a bit more, but the fish was fab, fresh vegetables, and fruit - what more could you ask for. Feeding the mongoose family from the balcony of the resturant made up for any deficit in the food!
Unfortunately, my sister became ill on day 3 of the trip - not sure why - and subsequently had to be taken out by air ambulance to Nairobi. What I can say is that all the staff at the hotel were brillant, going out of their way to ensure that whatever could be done, was being done for her and for me.
I want to thank Jeffrey and Francis for everything they did - the excellent game drives, their caring and support. Special thanks to Lillian, front desk, for helping to make the arrangements with the air ambulance and for all the staff who made those 3 days an experience never to be forgotten!
Would I go back to Mara Simba? yes, without hesitation - I want to bring the doctor a proper blood pressure cuff!
