“Just like home... only better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011 via mobile

I spent 3 nights at this gem of a place with my 6 year old son and it was fabulous! Of course being first time in Kenya added to the charm. Staff not overly friendly but courteous and professional. Accomodation was clean, bright and airy. The food was delicious and the grounds secure and immaculate. This is my Nairobi secret, shhhh... don't tell anyone.

“Fine enough”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

Gigiri homestead was a decent place to stay for the few nights we were there. It's clean. We stayed in the cheapest room, and it was fine. Communication from the staff pre-arrival was great, and very prompt. It's a good place to stay if you need to be in the area where it's located.

There were a few things that could have been a little better, like the breakfast and the hospitality (at times) and the wireless connection, but it was fairly priced and did the job.

One thing to keep in mind, and this is no fault of Gigiri Homestead itself, is that cab drivers had a very difficult time finding it, making for plenty of frustration whenever we went anywhere. I would recommend sticking with the same driver in order to avoid the hassle.

“Lovely, quiet and relaxing”

Gigiri Homestead is like staying in someones well-kept and nicely decorated house. It is comfortable and you are well looked after. The breakfast is lovely (especially the fruit pancakes that they're happy to make for you) and the dinner certainly looked and smelled delicious even though i didn't have a chance to try it. The garden is large and peaceful - a great place to sit and work or relax after a long day. Only down-side is that the wireless internet signal is quite weak and in the communal areas and garden there is no reception.

The house is walking distance from Village Market, most UN offices and a bunch of lovely restaurants like the Cafe des Arts.

The staff are all really friendly and make you feel right at home. I would definitely stay there again.

“Beautiful place to stay - away from the hustle & bustle of the city”

We had the pleasure of staying at Gigiri Homestead and found it to be a wonderful place where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful home and yard (patio & gardens) while exploring Nairobi. Martha, our host, and the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The room was private and clean and the bed was very comfortable. A perfect oasis after a long day in the city. We would definitely stay again.

“Quiet and Secure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2010

I had the pleasure of staying 6 nights at the Homestead. It is in a very quiet area of Gigiri and the grounds and house are very secure. Only a hop skip and a jump from both the UN and diplomatic quater, with the Village Market close by for all your basic needs. I can not fault the staff and would recommend this residence to anyone travelling to Nairobi especially with work in the Gigiri area.
