“Wretched place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

Horrible hotel in a decent location at a cheap price by Nairobi standards. Basically, it's 1970s England - tiny rooms, nylon sheets, awful decor, plastic carpet protector, small windows to service ducts, lucky to get warm water. Internet unusable before midnight. Wretched breakfast included. Don't even think about ordering food in the restaurant or going to the gym. Oh, and there is no garden, let alone olives.
Still, you're in Hurlingham. Escape is easy. If only there were some decent hotels.

“Pretty crummy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 March 2010

I only stayed one night as I was in transit. The whole place has a faded look about it as though the management don't care anymore.
The room had a musty smell and wasn't too clean. Fortunately, the bed was clean and comfortable.
I ordered a club sandwich in the restaurant. It came after 20 minutes, with an apology, but it was probably the worst example of the genre I have ever seen.
On the positive side the place is secure and conveniently placed for downtown and Wilson airport; but I wouldn't stay there more than a one night transit stop.

“Simple, basic, Keanian, Conferences”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2010

I stayed here a week because its near to our office. The hotel is rather basic. I had a room on the ground floor, adjacent to the garden so i had a lot of noise of people enjoying their drinks.
The shower didnt provide me with warm water for 3 days.
Executive Rooms - Self Contained, carpeted rooms with double bed. Im not sure whether the fact it has a carpet is a plus, as it felt it could use some cleaning.

The food is OK

The gym is a joke. There is one machine tat might have been hightec in the 70s but you cant use it anymore. it actually broken. There a a few 5kg weights lying around and a non working tredmill. No use.

i had quite some laundry that i needed quick. the express cleaning service delivered.

overall this is very much a kenian business hotel. dont expect international standards to apply. it located near the city centre and when you travel at night, only 30 minutes from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi traffic is terrible!)

The hotel has really improved since my last time there. The rooms are all now ensuite with the deluxes having buth tubs. I enjoyed their food and the ambience is good. can improve on front office staff though.
