“Good Location, Excellent Price and Hot Water!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We spent one night in this hotel as we had an early flight from Nairobi the next morning. The gentleman on reception was very friendly and the hotel felt secure. We paid KSh1,000 for the room, which is a bargin in Nairobi. The room was basic but did have a wash hand basin in the bedroom and an ensuite bathroom with lots of hot water! The room had a double bed, fan and a mosquito net. The hotel is in a great location - it is across the road from a Nakumatt and near other restaurants, where you can get breakfast. We stayed on a Saturday night and there was noise from outside on the street and the bar across the road so it might be worth packing ear plugs!

“Cheap, reliable downtown lodging”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2011

Terminal Hotel is not a special place, but if you want to stay in downtown Nairobi and don't want to spend a lot of money, Terminal is a good choice. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the hot water is reliable, and the location is great. There are plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance, a huge Nakumatt grocery/department store right across the street, and it's close to matatu parks and long-distance bus company offices.

Be aware, this place can be quite noisy at night. Downtown Nairobi is just a noisy place to be. There is an adjoining restaurant/bar which gets loud as the evening wears on, and there are other nighttime resorts of entertainment nearby. On any given evening, you can expect to hear loud music, people singing karaoke, drinkers shouting and laughing, etc. This can get annoying, but it's the price you have to pay for staying downtown. I have stayed at three different hotels in downtown Nairobi, and they were all noisy at night. Terminal is my favorite because it's reliable, clean, and cheap.

“avoid the noisy side”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2011

Same Nairobi standarts,bunk bed.mosq.net,fan,table & chair,no Tv, but,
ensuite rooms and the bathroom is O.K. Also an pricey but good located
and clean hotel.

Advantage is just opposite to the shopping mall including a small food court
and internet and wonderful thing is 20 meters to the Nakumatt Supermarket.
In the night grab your cold drinks and foods and all your needs come to your
room have your rest do not make you at risk.

Disadvantage is,in the street there were pubs and restaurants and might be
noisy at the night.Try to get the rooms looking for back not to courtyard.

Management is very friendly and security is OK.Will be a good place
for a couple of days for the business travels
but, try to avoid to the noisy side is must.

“good budget option centrally located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2010

I had a large airy room with nice hot showers at the Terminal Hotel. Furmiture and beds are ahowing their age, but for the price paid it's a perfectly acceptable option.
Close to Museum and Maasai market, directly opposite a shopping centre including Nakumatt. Walking distance to all points of interest in Nairobi city centre. Nice restaurant next door.

“good choice for budget travellers who seek for a minimum of comfort in central location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

The Terminal Hotel is a great choice for people that want a minimum of comfort in a central location. Rooms have their own bath and are generally clean, with few cockroaches only. It is also a very calm loaction - as long as you request a quiet room that does not neighbour the noisy street or the nearby night club.
The nice concierge might help you find reasonably priced safaris, excursions and overland buses - e.g. a minibus transfer to Arusha for 1300Sh (western tourists are often paying the double). If you are a single male staying in the hotel, you should be aware of the many young women that will try to make friends with you on the street and in the bars next to the hotel, and will turn out to be prostitutes.
