We came from this after one night in The Gaddis Hotel down the road, compared to the Gaddis it is luxury, it may not be perfect, but we certainly enjoyed our holiday there.
Lovely roof terrace with a clean pool, sat there every morning in the mid winter sun before going off visiting the sites.
Our room was well cleaned, view of the Nile, nice little balcony.
The breakfast was not what British people would normally have, but hey this is North Africa! I always found something to eat.
I would recommend trying a few restaurants around Luxor, Maximes, Sufra etc. we never tried the food at the hotel in the evenings. Eating out is quite reasonable in Egypt (£5 - £6) and interesting.
Everywhere a short horse and carraige or Callesh ride - pay about £E10 - £E20, that's about £1 to £2 UK.
Don't miss the sail boat ride on the Nile for about £E60 or £E70.

I am a travel agent and have worked in hotels and resorts around the world. This place is the pitts. I have happily stayed in 2 * hotels expecting nothing other than a clean room and basic service.
Waiter spent more time groping my partner than working,
the staff try to sell you stuff all the time, always against the law and without the managers knowledge.
dont expect to get money back from bills- they hope you will forget
breakfast- I love foreign food but mashed potato for breakfast?

if you dont tip they get rude and angry- when my partner refused to tip afdter waiting an hour to get change the other guests were horrified when they saw how the waiter behaved.
the internet you pay for 24 hours but then the manager switches it off and demands more money.

in the end we (as many others did) went and stayed elswhere. for £20 more you can get so much better.

The hotel was only rated 3* but our room had a Fridge (great in those temperatures), TV, shower and bath. The hotel was clean and the rooms were cleaned well. The location was an easy walk from Luxor Temple and the sites.
Breakfast was plentiful though some time items ran out but you only had to ask the staff and they went for more. We ate there twice in the evening and also at lunch time. On each occasion the food was well cooked, tasty and good value.
There was a lot of noise until late at night with traffic, but I find it difficult there to believe there is anywhere this accessible without noise and you soon get used to it. Not all rooms have a Nile View and I think that only the top three floors on that side will be able to view the Nile. There was a pool area though with fantastice views and a far nicer breeze thn available on the balcony.
If you are looking for a cheap hotel in a good location for trips then we would recommend the New Pola.

After having been 26 times in Egypt, this hotel is definitely my "best buy" notwithstanding some other comments I read here.

The cleaning team is constantly busy - I went several times with friends who were unanimously delighted

The owners are Coptic, good and decent people, and the Pola family is in the hotel business since a very long time.
They are really doing their best !
