“A WARNING!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2011

Made the mistake of being unaware of ‘Trip Adviser’, if I had, I would never have stayed at this 3 star hotel. I would give it 1 star nowadays.

I was shocked at the room I stayed in, it was very shabby, the carpet was dirty and stained even with toe clippings on the floor, and I couldn’t open the curtains properly as they were jammed on the rails. The mini fridge was unclean; the furniture was worn and tatty. I managed to negotiate a different room the next day with only slight improvements. No hot water in the mornings, in the evening I would have to make a request at the reception for them to heat the water so I could shower normally 30-40 mins later.

The roof terrace/café bar does not exist, just a pile of rubble and building work, no apologies from management.
Checked out the roof top pool, the sunbeds were disgusting!! Photo’s included!

At least the bedding was clean in the rooms, though I would have preferred the cleaners to spend less time making origami shapes out of towels and provide a cleaner room?
The evening meal was unavailable in the hotel, I had to take a 5 min walk to El Kababgy Restaurant on the Nile and choose a plate of food from a limited selection, the food was edible though.

Overall I thought the hotel was the ‘pits’ maybe 10-15 yrs ago when the hotel was built it may have been delightful? The owners just let everything deteriorate and expect tourists to put up with it.
The only thing it had going for it, it was only 10 mins walk from Luxor Temple, the local ferry, rail station and the use of a fabulous swimming pool at the Winter Palace Hotel!

Room Tip: 515 is the room I accepted in the end (twin)

“Love this hotel, stayed here 3 times and have 2 more visits booked”

This hotel is very well placed for everything. The rooms are basic but clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and Daniel in the shop is a lovely man. You can get discounts at the Edris restaurants Kabache and Metropolitan and the hotel boasts a very good nightclub. I plan to stay here every christmas and new year.

“Beware of the Tutotel Luxor”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

Beware this hotel priorities for back packers for 1-2 nights not for 1 or 2 week stay accomodation awful very basic way below normal standards Resturant when opened not advisable food cold and not appetising sevice dreadful wait at least 50 minutes for meals when you get it its not what you ordered and always cold We think it came from another hotel one night we ordered pizza and the waiter went on to the phone and when the pizza arrived it was cold and solid no need to complain staff unhelpful and nobody took any notice
Worst holiday ever and we are well seasoned travellers the hotel website is not a true reflection the terrace area is like a bomb site the swimming pool area was never cleaned and chairs were covered with bird droppings empty beer and water bottles all over the place in our 2 week stay the pool area had never been cleaned pool unuseable
No sound proofing in rooms very noisy at night barking dogs traffic and a lot of verbal shouting outside the hotel entrance calling to prayer started at 4.40am and theloud speaker seemed to be above our room window So please if you have considered this hotel BEWARE what lies ahead YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

a very basic but but friendly hotel, room was very clean bathroom was a bit cramped but coped for the week we were there,it did need bringing up to date, but overall ok, food in restaurant was very good so were the staff, but hotels hidden gem was the little shop tucked away in the corner owned mr daniel and his son melad, same prices as the bazzars but absolutley no hassle ,if they didnt have what you want they would try and get it for the following day, they might even give you cup of tea and friendly chat while you are shopping, excellent, couldnt of asked for better.

“Very basic tiny rooms, felt cramped and rundown”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2011

For one night as part of a budget tour package, staying here was sufficient, but not pleasant. The room was very small and seemed dated, dingy, and run down. There was a small (maybe 12 inch) TV that did not work. The cramped bathroom reminded me of old college dorm bathrooms - faded, stained, chipped, yet still working so it was sufficient. There was a small pool and lounge chairs on the roof with fantastic views of Luxor and the Nile - however in order to get to it guests had to walk through a weird unfinished lower rooftop area and then up a steep ladder/stairs - it struck me as very odd for a hotel. The small elevator was only accessible after a short staircase. We didn't try the restaurant, but noted it was severely overpriced for the area (ie a bottle of water cost 12 Egyptian pounds whereas nearby markets sold them for 3). The lobby was very nice, especially considering the condition of the rooms. It had ample seating and was a good place for our group to meet up.
I had minimal interactions with the staff, but they seemed friendly. I cannot really comment on the price/value of the rooms as this was part of a tour package, so I do not know what rate was paid for this night. Hopefully it wasn't very much!
