For the first time in our lives my husband and I walked out of a hotel.
As independent traveler, we have slept in some pretty shabby places, we are the adaptable types, and are not at all obsessed with hygiene, but only in this case did we feel we really had to leave. The hotel was really over priced, they charged us $120. (in Egypt you can sleep in beautiful hotels for $30 a night!). The rooms were extremely dirty, the building felt as if it were falling apart, the bathrooms were small, uncomfortable and filthy, there was debris on the terrace, but most of all, the sheets felt as if they had never been washed (we found hairs from private parts and other suspicious things in the bed) The staff were not unkind, and the nile views were nice, but don't stay there! Even if it's the last room available in Aswan!
