We were pleasantly surprised when we pulled up in our bus outside this hotel. Perched on a hilltop with views over the Nile to the west bank, Sunset Hotel lives up to its name each evening, with a rooftop area to enjoy the show. We were welcomed with a drink which might have been reconstituted orange juice but quenched our dry throats while our guide organised our keys.
We were on a tour so this wasn’t our hotel choice but it was lovely. Our two rooms (for a family of four) were lovely and looked out onto a well maintained pool which, unfortunately, is not heated in winter. There was also a tiny balcony to sit out on.
We only had breakfast here which was your standard Egyptian hotel type breakfast of breads, jam, honey, meat, tomato, cheese, fruit, pastries and tea and coffee. Nothing fancy but filled the spot.
We would stay here again. Aswan is beautiful and I'm sure the lovely pool would be very welcome in summer months.
