The Paradise is a budget hotel, very close to the station at the beginning of the pedestrianised souk. This would create problems if you are disabled as taxis are not able to reach the entrance to the hotel, but a good driver should help you.
The hotel itself seems to be in the middle of a refurbishment and the entrance lobby is shabby and a little worn around the edges. However, the rooms are very clean, if basic, and appear to be newly painted.
The bathroom was small, with no tub, and the water pressure left something to be desired, but I was on the 5th floor, and this is Egypt.
Airconditioning was great and I even had a choice of satellite channels on the tv as well as a huge refrigerator.
They have a wonderful roof terrace with seating and a "bar" area with outstanding panoramic views of Aswan, including a limited view of the river.
The staff were very helpful, and room service was spot on. I cannot comment on the included breakfast as I never actually made it to breakfast.
I would happily recommend this hotel to any budget traveller who is looking for cheap, clean accommodation.
Do negotiate the room rates, you can get this hotel for around 100LE a night for bed and breakfast for a single room.
