“very comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

my family and 2 other families stayed for 2 nights at this hotel on a half board basis, excellent price, rooms were very clean with a nice LCD screen , mini bar and working safe, the staff were all very cooperative especially Miss Ghada at the reception, who located us in very comfortable rooms everyone as he wished. breakfast buffet was very good, contained a wide assortment of cheeses, Egyptian fool, omlette bar, different types of eggs, the pastry chef has to be saluted, there is an open pool we didnt use as the weather was a bit cold and a heated closed one in the spa area, dinner buffet was good, with at least one type of beef one type chjcken and one type of fish plus a variety of side dishes and salads, they also offered a singer at the dinner time and on the second night we stayed at the bedwian tent to enjoy a good voiced singer, too close to the pyramids and sphinx also close to 6 october city were we went to dream park.

“Nice basic hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Had a comfortable stay. A basic 3 star hotel - good if you just intend to sleep at night and travel during the day, which most of us would be doing. Our room was quite spacious overlooking the pool. Pyramid could be seen from a few rooms but i think that should not be the selling point here.
Location: not great but again since most of us would be taking tours, the travel agents would be ensuring the transportation
There is a foreign exchange conversion facility available and I found the rates very competitive. It would be logical to get USD and get it converted here.

“This was a good three star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Memphis tours arranged for an early check in for me and the hotel accommodated that request very efficiently. My room was on the first floor overlooking the pool. The room was quite spacious with a very large closet and lots of shelving. There was a working safe, a great TV with working remote, a little fridge, two beds, lots of lamps and lighting fixtures, a little sitting area with a table ( it was great for teatime for two people) , desk, and various other pieces of furniture that seemed to fit in. The bathroom was huge, big tub, working shower, lots of big towels but had to ask for facecloths. Lots of shampoo, soap and conditioners so you dont' need to bring them for this part of your journey. I did not use the hotel water to brush my teeth but it seemed perfect for other purposes. The maid was very efficient and often came to see if I needed anything. The room service was quite good and only once the service delivery took some time ( almost 30 minutes). I would order tea or a nescafe every day around 3 ish and request a large container of boiled water with the nescafe or tea bag. It was always accommodated. The charge was around 10 or 15LE and then I would tip the rest of 20 LE. The breakfast room was large and bright. The coffee cups were so small you could only get a few gulps in there. That was ok because there was an unlimited amount of coffee. Lots of juice, hot cream for coffee, many different breads and pastries, yogurt, fruit plates, cereal, cheeses of all kinds, Egyptian Salad ( pickeled carrots and some type of raddish), eggs of all kinds, sliced up weiners (I missed bacon) and an assortment of potato dishes, french toast, Egyptian beans (yummy), and some grated carrots and some salads on another counter. Lots of foods, perhaps not the foods that we are used to coming from the Americas but it was sustaining.

The pool was nice but very few people out there....there were so many flies! I went out for about 20 minutes and then gave up. The hotel does spray the grounds but to no avail.

Staff are quite friendly. The reception was good. The restaurant staff looked so tired and over worked and yet managed to do a great job.

There is an overpriced gift shop on site. They wanted 240LE ( 40US) for a large Cleopatra size necklace and I got it at the Khan for 100LE. There is a money exchange or a bank open 24 hours a day. There is also an overpriced jewelry store on site as well. You have to buy internet cards from the reception for the internet room. They are only for 30 minutes or an hour....one shot, use it up or lose it , and the internet is quite expensive.

The best aspect of this hotel was that it was only 20 minutes walking distance from the Giza Pyramids. Walk out the front door, turn right to the main road and turn left and keep walking...the pyramids will come into full view. There is a hotel at the foot of the pyramids called Menna House and you are allowed to have a lunch in there or buy a coffee,,,it's quite beautiful.

Don't use the taxi services from the lobby as they wanted 200LE to arrange a driver for Saqquera, The Pyramids , over the bridge to The Egyptian Museum. We thought that was too pricey so we just stepped outside and asked a cab driver - Abdallah- how much he would charge for the whole day of driving. It was a 100LE and he felt like he won the lottery for that money. So he drove us around and we paid him well and all tipped him about 10 LE each. We saw him the next day and he said he reported back home with the money and tips and his wife was so grateful. He was a good guy.....I hired him again to drive us out to the Citadel, Cairo Tower and The Khan and it was only 70 LE ( 11US approx).

Tipping is a major part of the Egyptian Culture. Many Egyptians tip other Egyptians and they don't make a portion of what we make for salaries in the Americas or Europe. I also left a little something; we don't have too but the service was pretty good and the hotel served it's purpose. Our standards are much higher than Egyptian standards but still, I would stay there again for the 38.00US a night that I paid.

Funny Story: one morning I heard this noise outside my window at 6:00am. I got dressed and went downstairs and it was a young lad cutting the few pieces of grass . I said to him, why so early? He said the hotel likes to have this done before the tourists wake up...Ok......................... nice lad.

Room Tip: Ask for the fourth floor , you can see the tips of the pyramids.

“Nice but some drawbacks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We stayed there three times during an Egyption tour. We spent New Years Eve there and attended the Compulsory dinner 2011, not good and expensive for what you get although food was good. Rooms were nice quite large but no tea and coffe making facilities and a little tired. Grounds are well maintained and look lovely even down to the camel walking around(with handler). Plenty of eating options available, nice Italian restaurant which makes pretty good Pizza when you just want snack, breakfast bar was Ok but not the best variety. Staff were very friendly and really did the best they could but not all understood English that well.If you want to go somewhere it was via taxi, although there was a well stocked Supermarket around the corner(approx 10min walk). Plenty of taxis parked outside the hotel. We did discover a new term, Egypt Time so be patient.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms seem a little larger.

“Nice hotel, but average food for breakfast.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

We stayed here 4 nights during our stay in Egypt, and it was a nice hotel. The room itself was just fine, and the outdoor amenities were well-maintained. But the breakfast was just so-so. The food was always cold (and we ate at various times each morning), and they offered really odd choices. I suppose they were trying to cater to every type of tourist, but it was just ok I guess. Dinner was much better--just don't eat at the Italian place in the hotel. Also, the internet charge was a bit ridiculous--$10 for a half hour, or $20 for a full day? You can go to the internet cafe, but why would you want to when you have a connection in your room? The service was excellent, but I'd say it needs to work on it's food for me to give a higher rating.

Room Tip: All rooms get a view of the pyramids, and you'll be so busy touring during the day that your roo...
