“Worst hotel experience EVER”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2011

My wife and I had the unfortunate experience of checking into this hotel for 2 nights before we, in desperation, were able to arrange for another hotel. From the very beginning, the check-in staff was rude and refused to honor my reservation. Despite showing everyone from the bellman to the hotel manager my confirmation with the rate and dates listed, they simply shrugged and said it was not in their system. The manager then told me we could leave or....he would do us a "favor" and allow us to take a room at a much higher rate. Not having a choice, we paid the ransom for what ended up being a disgusting room. I have stayed in dodgy backpackers that were cleaner. Initially not willing to move us, eventually they relented and moved us to another barely acceptable but sub-standard room. Their service standards did not get any better. They wanted to charge us to heat the supplied bottled water to make tea. They tried to charge us to bring us a spoon to use in the room. Want to use the internet? 6 USD for 30 minutes and of course - "the internet is not working on your floor. You can however sit in the lobby and use it." Ridiculous. There is a safe in the room - but it is small and not bolted to anything. Some safety. Never again would I stay here, nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone else - ever!

“Best ripoff in Giza”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2011

Check in staff were pleasant and efficient, however all other staff were not helpful at all with several including restaurant Manager being quite rude. Hotel has a number of restaurants, even in house advertising of functions in these restaurants, however guests were not permitted in them other than the one that served breakfast. Food was 'ordinary', overpriced, and the wait staff were slow and rude. Our first night we stayed in and had ameal, as we only wanted a lite small meal we were ushered outside for an a la carte meal. By the pool a 4 piece band attempted to play music for abelly dancer to swing to. The belly dancer couldn't keep in step to the 'music'(?), and all she ended up doing was to swing her oversized breasts at patrons. Pathetic !!
When paying our bill we noticed an item ENT. On seeking questions we were advised that this was for entertainment. From discussions with some other guests this was another way that the hotel and/or staff made some extra income from travellers.
The room was pleasant enough, although the in room cash safe did not work. TV stations were less than previously encountered in Cairo/Giza. For a supposedly 5 star hotel, we did not see encounter it in our visit.
Shops in hotel foyer were am,using. On day they were prepared to barter, the next day their over inflated prices were just that. Good location to shopping and restaurants.
Best experience was location in Giza. Worst experience other than that described above was strong cigar/cigarette smoke encountered on every occasion in coffee/snack shops in hotel foyer.

“The Zoser Hotel made our skin crawl”

This hotel, was dirty, the sheets were not clean. The hotel was smelly & felt like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Bugs flying around in room all night..YUCK... The hotel website looks nothing like the hotel.. or maybe what the hotel looked like on the first day it opened. The pool looks more like a swamp. Your would be better off swimming in the nile river. People on our tour had there things stolen out of room by cleaning staff.. BE WARNED... dont pay more than $40 US for this hotel or your being ripped off.

“Hotel better than expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2010

we stayed at the zoser hotel for 4 days. We had read the reports on here and were expecting the worst. I have to say that it wasn't anything like what we had read. The hotel is rated as a 5 star but have to say that it is more like a very good 3 bordering a 4 star I say this because Cairo is a big city which is poor in many area's and the general purpose of people being there is for short visits if you are expecting 5 star luxury you should be in Sharm-el Sheik. The rooms were clean and tidy, We had a problem with the shower which we reported and was fixed within 15 mins. Breakfast was very good lots of choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was on the inside so we couldn't hear the traffic on the main road. The only down side to this hotel was that it was further out than others but still had shops and restaurants near by. The Wung Fu chinese was outstanding. We wanted to stay in the Crown Pyramids which was better located but it was full. We went on a package tour which was great we had our own driver the whole time. The roads are manic and crossing the road is an experience aswell as being a passeneger in a car! No matter where you go if people help you or if you engage in conversation with them they will expect a tip so beware as they will follow you half way down the road!!

“Nosy to the extreme!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2010

Definitely not a 4* hotel! Poor and not very clean, very noise and a little bit smelly.
Cairo is a chaotic town so it felt like people are never getting a rest. But probably if you have a quite room this chaos will not bother you. Not our case.
You can spend one night or two in this hotel but if you have the “luck” to get a room on the front part of the hotel (seeing the street) you are doomed. For 3 nights (while staying there) I was not able to sleep at all because the windows were not closing properly (and it was the same case for all the other companions from the group) and I was feeling I am sleeping on the street, hearing all the noises and traffic and people screaming and … everything.
