“Pyramid View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Stayed 1 night here while in Cairo as right next to Pyramids.
Hotel very plush and room and bed very comfortable.
Slight problem with check-in as we had requested a pyramid view room with double bed, however they firstly put us in a twin room. They changed us to a double room where we could only see 1 of the Pyramids, but we chose this over the twin room where we could see 2.
Gym and Spa very good and free to use.
Breakfast was expensive for Egypt if you had the buffet, but if you ask for 'a la carte', you can choose what you want for slightly less.
Is about a 45-60 minute journey from airport.
Really nice hotel if you want to treat yourself for a short visit to see the Giza Pyramids.

Room Tip: Ask for View of 2 Pyramids and Balcony

“A bit disappointing....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

My husband and i were on our honeymoon and we were booked for meridien. The first time although the checkin was really fast, the rooms somehow seemed a bit underdone. I mean i come from a city where things like a coffee tray, drinking water etc are a part of the room, but to our surprise we did not even have drinking water in our room. not even in the minibar.

We stayed there for 2 more nights with breaks in the middle and only on our last visit we got a fabulous room view with the Pyramids and the Poolside view. that was the best experience of the hotel.

The breakfast spread is good and their homemade yoghurt is really nice however we did not enjoy the dinner buffet.
The Tex mex restaurant tho has a good menu ..
Overall being on our honeymoon we kinda expected more so it was a bit disappointing

Room Tip: ask for the pyramid facing rooms

“Fabulous View of the Pyramids from our room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Visited this hotel in late December. We were very pleased with our rooms. The rooms were super clean, breakfast was a huge spread with both local flavors and Western foods. Our suite had a great view of the pyramids!! It's ideally located. Very close to the pyramids and Sphinx, and I'd say a good base for Islamic/Coptic Cairo/Saqqarra and the Museum. We were very pleased. We are plat with Starwood. We were met by no fewer than 3 different managers on arrival. They gave us the choice of 3 rooms and accomodated our request for another room for our teenagers (which we had booked already), but they had the room next door to our suite available. Everyone was super nice and very hospitable. Complimentary breakfast and wi fi was a very nice perk too. The breakfast was a huge buffet with at least 25 different choices of warm food, plus an omlette station, plus a waffle station, plus fruit, cereal, bread etc. It was totally sufficient and really helped us start our day well with a full belly. (Plus our teenagers weren't really open tor trying some of the local flavors, so this was a good way to get them full too.). I would definitely go back to this hotel. Would recommend to anyone considering going. If possible, I'd try to work in the breakfast into the cost of the room (if that's an option). I never saw the price of the breakfast, but it was well worth $20 US per person per day..... Have a fab time!! (P.S. It's not like Ritz Carlton/USA standards (in terms of ammenities, decor for the room etc.), but I would take a venture and say for Egypt it is definitely 5 stars...(The buffett is def. 5 stars)..Well worth a stay and nice and quiet and very cozy bed...(I attached a pic I took from our room...it was very foggy both mornings.. ) You will have a great time!!!!!!!! I'm so jealous!! Wish I was going back there!!!!! :)

Room Tip: You MUST reserve a room with a view of the Pyramids!! It was SO nice to wake up and see them each a...

“An oasis from the madness of Cairo.....with amazing food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We rarely stay at 5 star hotels when on holiday, however the tour company we used in Egypt (Summit) booked us at Le Meridien and we are glad they did. The hotel is built around a central courtyard with a large pool and bar area. One end of the courtard looks directly onto the Giza Pyramids.....so the view is great (when there's no fog to obstruct the view).
The layout of the hotel provides a good sense of security which we appreciated. The hotel provided a safe haven (or feeling of one) from the madness of Cairo. We never felt completely comfortable or confident in Cairo so to get away from it after a day of touring was a welcome relief.

The ate 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts at the hotel. All meals were buffet style. The quality of food at all meals was outstanding. The variety, presentation, freshness and taste was first class.

We did not use the gym or pool but both looked very good. We are regular gym goers and the hotel had a very good variety of equipment that looked well maintained.

The room was well equipped - large shower with plenty of hot water, comfortable beds with good pillows, plenty of cable tv channels (enough English channels) etc. The laundry service was fast (same day), good quality and reasonably priced. Internet was not free but rates were reasonable and quality of service very good (Viber and Skype works well).

“Refreshing place to see the Pyramids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

After staying in Cairo, the Le Meridien was a refreshing change. So much so, that we extended our stay in Giza and cancelled our other accommodations. Although there was still some construction it was not a problem. The only thing we missed was the work room which was temporarily setup in an old area, but not a problem and we are sure fine now. The rooms were well done with great service. The view from the pool and many of the rooms had the Pyramids in the background. After 10 days on the road, we decided to spend a day by the pool to relax.

Room Tip: Several rooms over look the pool with the pyramids in the background. Any of these would be great. T...
