“Bad service”

This hotel do not send your postcards.
The service at the restaurant is very slow, and they do not have many of the dishes or beverages on the menu card.
It is a very noisy hotel because of the traffic.
On the positive side: there is a roof top terrace where you can see the pyramids far away.
The window could not close but they fixed it as good as they could.

“Decent hotel for a short stay!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

The hotel is located downtown, in the middle of a slum area - very noisy - there is nothing within walking distance of this hotel, besides a store selling water & cooldrinks. On the rooftop - pool area you able to see the Great Pyramids of Giza in the far distance! its worth the trip to Maadi city centre shopping mall which is the closest from the hotel - better food (Mc donalds, Pizza Hut, Cafe supreme, KFc etc) - & inexpensive.. 20 pounds will get you ther by taxi! City Stars centre is a really huge mall & has a bigger variety of food & stores.

Swiss Inn overall is a clean & basic, spacious hotel, there is a mini fridge in the room but no kettle or tea/coffee, there is limited menu for vegetarians (3 dishes at most), breakfast on the other hand seemed to be good - a variety of cereals, pastries, breads & the local dishes. , Service isnt great, you will wait for anything you ask for... toilet paper is the worse to ask for - they will not replace it! & most of the staff are unable to speak english.

A word of advice, get an upper level/top floor Nile view room, the higher you are the better the rooms get! Also they do not allow early check in - if soo you will pay 150 dollars!!

Overall I would rate this hotel a 3 star!

Room Tip: Get an upper level/top floor Nile view room, the higher you are the better the rooms get! Less noise...

I stayed here last week and oh my god never again. Food was awful, not friendly and in the middle of a slum, was not happy.

“pyramid views, wedding parties and life in downtown giza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

from door men to being invited to join in a traditional egyptian wedding, the service was impeccible. Yes, it is in downtown Cairo.. but if you are looking for sparkling clean streets, then perhaps egypt is not a destination for you. i loved waking up to the view on my balcony of the real giza life, overseen by the pyramids on the horizon. For me,i came to egypt to experience another culture, and watching farmers on rooftops tend to animals in the morning was what this was all about. great shisha bar down the road too! if you are looking for a polished experience, dont stay here... if you are looking to experience egypt in all its glory, then stay here.

also, we lost our bags in kuala lumpur, and the reception staff were incredibly helpful and always on call for us.

egypt was by far the best, most life changing trip of my life.

Room Tip: high up gets full views of the Giza plateau

“Better hotels in better locations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2011

Reasonable level of service throughout stay. Wait staff always pleasant, however they had great difficulty at times understanding english language.
Rooms were typical of 2/3 star hotel. A good clean would make a hec of a difference.
Not the best location, away from all the action of Cairo. Able to see the Nile River from the roof bar/pool area. Roof top area also 'grubby' and in good nead of a good clean and springclean. Meals and drinks all overpriced. No real options unless you choose a taxi to take you into Cairo. Our taxi driver from Cairo got lost and we went round in circles for almost an hour. Hotel recommended taxi into Cairo demands three times the usual taxi fare. If staying here and heading to Cairo, hail yourself a taxi in the street. It will be cheaper with less hastles!
Best experience is upstairs pool/bar area. Cannot however see pyramids from here due to smog. Worst experience is the dirty rooms/pool area.
