“A safe haven in a mad place!!!”

We travelled to Cairo for two reasons, the 1st to get married and the 2nd to apply for a visa for my husband. I booked the Invitation Hotel as it appeared to be the only hotel which had good reviews.
The hotel is tired and a little cold but to be honest the staff were so lovely and supportive, we hid away in our room at the end of exhausting days running around trying to collect all the necessary paperwork.
The hotel offered to collect us from the bus station and kept in contact with me via email and sms.
The breakfast is included and it is rolls, eggs and cheese. Not bad really for only £16 for a double room in the middle of the Cairo.
I would recommend you stay at the hotel as the staff are very supportive and caring and will go out of their way to make sure you are okay.

Room Tip: We had two rooms, both were a little cold and the double bed was pushed up against the window and th...

“An UNFORGETTABLE experience in Cairo!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

I spent my birthday in Egypt.. started in Cairo and ended up in Luxor... The hotel is 3* with a 7* service!! Yes people.. The staff at this place is simply THE BEST!! When we first checked in we were offered a welcome drink.. Whatever we wanted.. no alcohol.. then they gave us the room.. And done! We arranged the pyramid tour with them... Very reasonable price for two! After reading so much of Egypt and how tourist get hassled to buy things When you arrive.. I told Shariffa and Sheri that I do not want to stop anywhere to buy anything.. we went to the tour (Nov 10th) and it was DONE as promissed! After we came back from seeing the pyramids and riding a camel (AMAZING experience) the Mohammed (hotel host) asked me to please come back to the lobby after taking a shower and changing.. They had a surprise for me... People: They bought me a Chocolate cake and sang Happy Birthday to me! This Made my stay an UNFORGETTABLE experience!! I felt a home at all times and I made three new friends.. Thank you for everything "Shariffa", "Sheri", and "Mohammed"
The hotel is located in Downtown Cairo, behind the Egyptian museum (a must see).. now keep in mind you will hear the cars from the street. In reality.. You will hear noise at any place in Downtown Cairo!
Please do yourself a favor and stay here if you visit Cairo.. the value for money is great!

“Bring Earplugs”

My partner and I stayed for 4 nights at this hotel from 16th-20th September.

Positives

The location is excellent. You can walk to Tahrir Square, Cairo Museum and the Nasser Metro Stop all within 5 minutes.

The staff are very friendly and always deal with any requests as best they can. We had an issue with our air conditioning on the first night and despite trying numerous times to fix it, they finally moved us into a different room. They always asked us if we had a nice time and took an interest in what we were doing and offered help if appropriate.

It's very cheap. We paid only around 430 Egyptian Pounds for 4 nights.

The rooms had aircon, a TV with a wide variety of channels, and the bathroom was fine.

Free airport pick up was a nice bonus.

Negatives

It is VERY noisy. I know this isn't something that the hotel can really control, but it has to be considered as a MAJOR negative against this hotel. If you value sleep, I simply cannot recommend this hotel.

The rooms are slightly dated and are not quite the pinnacle of cleanliness, however for the price paid you cannot expect too much.

Overall

If you are on a strict budget and don't mind a few sleepless nights, then the friendliness of the staff and central location make this hotel a decent choice.

“Best budget hotel I have stayed at in the entire region - love it”

Invitation is a budget hotel in the centre of busy and bustling downtown, Cairo, only a short walk from Talaat Harb street, the Oxford Street of Cairo, the Egyptian Museum, Tahrir Square, the Nile and Groppi's cafe, a tea house that once supplied English royalty in Great Britain.

The hotel, on the 6th floor, commands a stunning view of Cairo's traffic, high-rises, Hilton, energy and sounds. The staff are smiling Egyptians that speak English well and the prices whether of the room, drinks, food and laundry are real value for money.

As a budget hotel, that I had booked in haste hours before my flight, I am very pleased with the room itself, staff, local amenities and service I have received not only once but twice! I just had to come back.

“EXCEPTIONAL RECEPTION”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

No frills hotel, extremely cheap with good accommodation, rooms are spacious, air conditioning good, breakfast was adequate(but don't expect lavishness, you're paying a few quids only). There were only two bathrooms in the whole floor and one of them was closed during our whole stay which caused a bit of inconvenience to us. Situated in the heart of the city just next to the Egyptian Museum and the most important place in the whole of Cairo from where any and all sorts of transportation are at your fingertips. It is a family run hotel and the reception staff are exceptionally well behaved and are always by your side to help you out and they are always there to help you out. Arranged day trips for us for nominal charges.
The only complain that I have is that their elevator was not working during our 5 days of stay over there and we had to climb all the way up to the 6th floor, tiring after a long days sightseeing in that oppressive heat and especially on the first and last day of our stay when we had to haul our luggage.

Room Tip: Stay at the room on the backside as the street below is extremely noisy being the main road in Cairo...
