“A suprise oasis in the heart of Cairo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

Our family arrived by night train from Luxor (Much to be recomended btw!). We had a bit of trouble finding the hotel but in the end we made our way down a small alley, into a courtyard and up an old metal elevator. Not the place you you wander into looking for a hotel! But, at the top of the elevator, we discovered this urban oasis. A quiet little hotel, very charming on the rooftops of Cairo. Service was fine, breakfast ok and the rooms charming. Would stay there again, but if you require more luxuary, more facilities or prefer modern hotels, this might not be for you.
However, if you enjoy the 1001 night experience and dont mind a little rough edges this is just the place for you. A magical little oasis in the centre of Cairo.

“Talisman was in a great spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2010

The Talisman Hotel was in a fantastic downtown spot but taxis do have a really hard time finding it. It’s very boutique, it was the only hotel that I saw that didn’t have a guy standing with a gun and a metal detector at the door.

Another nice thing was from the rooms you could barely hear traffic from down below due to double doors on the patio. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were very up to date and clean. Breakfast was nice, the classic pastries, bread and a bit of fruit. They do have free in house WI FI and computer access. Overall one of the nicer hotels we had been to while in Cairo.

“A rare find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2010

This botique hotel is a rare and wonderful find in Cairo - accomodations and service on par with international hotel chains, but with an intimate and local vibe. The location is perfect - right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown, though you would never know it once you get inside the quiet oasis of the hotel. The rooms are adorable, the breakfast carried and filling, and the staff incredibly helpful and friendly.

We chose to book a car and guide through the tour company based in the hotel (Adventures in Egypt) to take us around to the surrounding sites (Giza, Sakkara, Memphis). We were very pleased with the service -the guide was knowledgable and professional, and they were willing to modify the tour slightly in order to accomodate our preferences.

“Not value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2010

This hotel was adequate for our purposes in Cairo. It was neat and clean. However for the price we paid it was very poor value. We paid less for the Old Winter Palace in Luxor/LTI in Aswan (both wonderful hotels - see my reviews) and the front desk and the tour agency head werent very helpful esp when we didnt want to take his tours. I wouldnt stay here again only on grounds that it wasnt value for money.

“Friendly and intimate hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2010

This hotel is much more personal than any of the big western chains in town. Of course, it is also much simpler, but the rooms are comfortable enough, each is decorated with taste and you have a lounge and a library that the guests can use. Free wifi is provided. Breakfast could definitely be improved though.
