“Best 5 Star we have EVER stayed in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We are world travelers and have been to many fancy hotel and resorts. We arrived early, 11 am, and checked out 24 hours later, and stayed in our room almost the entire time. Why? Well, this is NICEST and most comfortable hotel room we have ever stayed in. As soon as we got there I wanted to try out the bed - it looked so comfortable and luxurious. It was HEAVEN! I didn't want to get out. Sooo - we ordered room service (which was excellent, decent portion, and expensive but on par with this hotel) and just stayed in the bed. They also surprised us with a delicious chocolate cake for our 10-year anniversary.

The bathroom was scrumptious and huge. It had a separate large soaking tub, and wonderful shower. Here is where the 5 star really comes into play. They had different OILS in fancy containers for you to pick from for your tub, along with loufas, bath salts, etc. Way beyond your standard toiletries. Also the bathrobes were SO comfy.

We left the room for two hours to go enjoy the rooftop pool and jacuzzi area, and it was well worth it. A true haven in the city.

Service is also spectacular here. They held our luggage from 11am - 7pm when we returned to go to the airport. They held the doors when we checked in, had someone stop by the room within 1/2 hour to bring fruit and water and make sure everything was to our liking. Top of the line!

Don't think twice, splurge for even a day and JUST STAY HERE! It was well worth the money. It was an experience just to be here.

Loved it, loved it, loved it!

Room Tip: Club rooms are by far the best value.

“Service could improve”

A beautiful hotel however was let down by the service. Once this improves this could be one of the nicest hotels in Cairo.

Rooms are well appointed and the beds are extremely comfortable.

Gold level offers free wifi however other room types have to pay and it's very expensive.

Room Tip: A higher level will enable you to see the pyramids at sunset if you're on the Nile side of the h...

This hotel is truly five-star. The rooms are modern, clean, large, luxurious. The service is excellent. The breakfast buffet is great with a huge selection and not too crowded. I would gladly stay there again.

“Truly Five Star!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I have never been so impressed with a hotel in my life! My amazement might be derived from what many would consider to be my white trashiness. I don’t know if that is entirely the case. I know when things are above par. I may not know what fork is the shrimp fork, but I know when I am being treated like a king.

It’s hard to put in words why we enjoyed the hotel so much. The service was amazing. The styling of the rooms, lobby and lounge were on par with other major brand five star hotels we have stayed in. The beds were like sleeping on clouds. To articulate my point I will give two examples of what set the Fairmont Nile City apart.

After 16 hours of sitting on a plane we finally arrived in Cairo. We hopped in a taxi and sped off to the hotel. Upon arrival we had to show our confirmation to the man at the exterior gate while the dog sniffed our car for explosives. This is common in Egypt and the middle east. After driving through the gate and arriving at the entrance my wife and I were greeted by last name. The guy at the bottom must have radioed up who we were. The door man greeted us by name, the personnel at security greeted us by name, and well every one greeted us by name. After initial contact we were always greeted warmly by name.

Being that the revolution was still going on during our visit we made sure to ask almost everyone we met their experience. One of the best answers we got was from our waiter in the lounge while we were having a couple beers. Beers are expensive, go during happy hour. He told us of what happened in early December when the 40 protesters were killed. He said that the protesters were outraged and began looting and rioting. One of the places that was targeted was right next to the hotel. To ensure the safety of the guests all male employees came in, scheduled or not, in plain clothes and formed a barricade between the protesters and the hotel. Many of the guests were frightened as the protesters were trying to enter the hotel, but armed with whatever they could find, the hotel staff deafened the hotel from any intrusion.

In this time of turmoil in Cairo, and all of Egypt the Fairmont Nile city was a little save haven, haven… heaven, both work so you chose.

Room Tip: Choose a partial Nile view or full.

“An Excellent Hotel, A Great View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

I stayed at the Fairmont Nile City for four nights over the Christmas holidays. The hotel is quite new and the facilities are excellent. . The rooms are spacious and the view of the Nile is superb. I definitely recommend getting a river view room. The staff is well trained, professional and friendly.

Both restaurants are excellent and the recommendations of the waiters can be trusted. The view of the city from the roof top swimming pool is a treat and you can eat up there if you like. The spa, like all Fairmont spas, is quite good. There is nothing like having a steam bath and massage after a long day of sightseeing.

My only quibble about the hotel is that there doesn't seem to be much immediately around the hotel worth seeing so it is tour guides and taxis for everything. The hotel staff tries very hard to protect you from predatory taxi drivers (a big problem in Cairo) but it doesn't always work.

Room Tip: River view rooms from the higher floors are quiet and have spectacular views.
