We arrived at the Novotel as was booked through our tour group and were astonished to find out that if we wanted to venture into Cairo, the city we thought we would stay in, it would take 1 hour and cost 50 euros by taxi. Getting to Cairo or the Cairo airport is extremely inconvenient. Although it is a nice place, I would not recommend it if you want to see Cairo.

I decided to stay here before doing a tour down the Nile as I fancied a bit of luxury before the trip! I stayed over Christmas but that didn't make it any friendlier! I noticed staff seemed to be conscious of management's watchful eye so didn't really want to engage in conversation, even supercial! When I didn't have enough money on my person, I told the waiter I needed to go up to the room and he acted very cagey and wanted to come up to my room to ensure I wouldn't do a runner!

I found this hotel in haste but found it be in a remote area with hardly any amenities close by. This is purely a business type hotel nothing more.

This Novotel stands in line with the worldwide Novotel standards - it means a good 4 stars hotel. rooms are clean, staff is helpful, food is a good combination of local and continental dishes.
It is located in a new city outside of Cairo (6th October city), it is very closed to Giza (Pyramids) and has few ultra-modern shopping malls in the area.
But.... if you have meetings in Cairo or at the airport - this is not a location for you. it can take up to 2 hours to the airport by car/taxi going into the hectic, crazy Cairo traffic.
I would recommend it for a vacation because the area is modern.

In a few words it was terrible, the location was really bad and the service was very poor, we couldn’t even sleep well because of the small insects and small spiders everywhere, the rooms were dirty and stinky bad smell, the restaurant was not clean also, and I have to complain all the time with no response, the breakfast was very nice and this is the only good thing, and I have to pay per hour for parking my car in the hotel parking area although I am staying in the hotel(it was unbelievable)
