We stayed at the Grand Hyatt Cairo for two nights as part of our busy Egyptian itinerary and we were not dissapointed.
The hotel is is a superb location right on the river Nile and really is a five star accommodation. We got upgraded to a Suite which was amazing - two balconies overlooking the nile with an outlook over the city, with the pyramids in the distance, along with a large living room, bedroom and two bathrooms. The hotel has a lovely, peaceful pool area overlooking the Nile and city below, and the staff really can't do enough for you.
Try the revolving restaurant for amazing food and views, although it's a little overpriced.
Only negative point is the porters sending our bags back to the airport when we arrived, but this was sorted out quickly and the staff did everything they could to make it up to us.
Overall, I don't think you could choose a better city hotel in Cairo.

well i came to Egypt for 2 reasons 1st it's my engagement anuvairsiry and 2nd cuz my wife wanted to see Egypt since she never been there
the 1st thing I would like 2 thanks the hotel cuz they checked us in early cuz we arrived early morning around at 9 a.m.
I've asked 4 an upgrade since it's my anuviarsiry but they didn’t care at all not every said nothing to us, I think they didn’t care at all. but the room they gave us it was almost without an AC !
lucky me that the hotel wasn’t full at all so they could move me to another room which took almost an hour just 2 move.
There is nothing special about the room
The consirag didn’t give us any good advice at all, nothing special from him just to get to the main areas in Cairo but never show us any special things they do in Cairo, he always recommended the hotel restaurants !
The thing I hated the most the way that ppl are treating us like a moving bank or some thing they always ask for additional money always
I usually give tips but there they do ask for more and more !!
The thing I hated the most is at the airport how is every 1 moving and no clear line for any thing not for the passports not the tickets nothing at all.

We stayed in this hotel for about 6 nights in and out during our trip to Egypt in March - April 2009. We had 2 rooms, one for our parents and one for me and my husband. Rooms were clean and had view of Nile. Staffs were efficient if not too friendly but never rude. Like other reviews the best feature of this hotel is the breakfast. There were fresh juice, fruits, pastries, hot foods, and omelet station. My only problem( more of annoyance) is that they don't have non-smoking room ready at check in time. Each time we check in ( we had to check in 3 different times) we had to wait for non-smoking room. I think( I can be wrong on this) they don't have non smoking rooms but do something to get rid of the smell. I see ash trays and rooms don't have non-smoking signs. However my allergy didn't react to the room so no complain. The location of the hotel is quite convenient to the Museum and other sights if you don't mind walking a little. Overall this is a very nice hotel and I will stay here again.

My best friend and I did a three week tour of Egypt in December/January to celebrate a milestone birthday and we ended the tour in Cairo. I'm so glad we decided to stay at the Grand Hyatt Cairo. I've travelled all over the world and have always felt comfortable in any country I was in, but I have to say that I was a little intimidated by Cairo (the culture and so many people). At the end of the day when we were tired of all of the endless noise and multitudes of people, we could escape to our own oasis, a.k.a. Grand Hyatt Cairo.

We had a room on the 31st floor overlooking the Nile with the pyramids on Giza Plateau in the background. It was beautiful (both the room and the view). We had a balcony where we sat each evening to watch the sun go down over the pyramids.

We had access to the Grand Club Room, so each afternoon after our touring we would go the Club Room to have tea or a diet coke. The wait staff there was so attentive. By the third day when we walked in, they remembered what we had previously ordered and as we were sitting down they had served us. I felt totally catered to. The floor staff was wonderful also. Each day we came back to a clean (and straightened) room, fresh fruit and plenty of bottled water. Each night they came to do turn-down and left new bottled water.

The restaurants in the hotel were fabulous. We ate at two different ones, Chingari (Indian) and La Famiglia (Italian), but the hotel has 10 other restaurants (including a revolving restaurant on the roof), plus a food court. There is also attached shopping and a movie theater.

The concierge service is top notch. We arranged three different private tours (just my friend and I, plus the guide and driver), including an all day "pyramids" tour and a tour of Old Cairo. They were all excellent and extremely affordable.

I would highly recommend the Grand Hyatt Cairo to anyone who was going to stay in Cairo. It's not inexpensive, but it's worth the cost in pampering, safety and peace of mind.

We loved our stay at the Grand Hyatt. We stayed on the 38th floor which, besides having great views, allowed us to relax in the executive lounge, being served whatever we wanted for breakfast and wonderful appetisers which made up a light dinner, all while sitting at a window table watching the Nile below and the Pyramids. We went up to the top-floor bar for a very expensive cocktail first b/c they don't serve alcohol any where else except room service. Still, we loved our stay there and felt cossetted.
