“Awful Place to Stay”

This hotel was horrible. I have stayed in hostels for less than half the price and had a better experience. When we first got to our room the TV was unplugged and the wires for the plugs were frayed, the shower did not have hot water, and the toilet would not flush. After going down and nicely asking reception to fix the problems we went to eat at a nearby restaurant. They told us that they would have the toilet and the TV fixed by the time we returned. When we came back and asked reception if things had been taken care of they did not know what we were talking about. At this point we began to get upset so they offered to move us to a new room. The new room was bigger, but when we tried to use the water in both the sink and the shower it came out brown. We then tried to use the heater since it was around sixty degrees outside and the same temperature in the room. The heater did not work. The last straw was when we tried out what looked like a queen size bed only to find out that it was two twin beds pushed together. Needless to say we did not sleep very well that night since both of us kept rolling into the break in between the mattresses. We were too grossed out to use the water in the shower the next morning as well. At this point I would have expected the hotel to have tried to compensate us for our horrible stay but they did not even once offer to discount anything from the price, which looking back was far too expensive for what we got in the first place. My advise would be to steer clear of this hotel. The lobby looks nice, but the rooms and the service are terrible.

“NICE STAFF awful hotel”

We won a trip from DSTV in Sep 2010, we were so exited and decided to take our kids with as it would be our first trip abroad as a family. The travel agency told us that we are staying at a three star hotel which includes breakfast. When we arrived at the hotel it looked like the place was falling apart, I could not believe that this was the place that we had to stay at for an entire week. The heat was unbearable and the kids had to sit in the bath to cool off as the hotel had no swimming pool. Breakfast was the same every morning, eggs beans, cheese and bread. The third day we decided to cut our holiday short and come back home. Never Never Never again.

“Awful place to stay”

I made a friendly trip to Cairo with a group of colleagues in Mar-07. One of my friends booked @ the President Hotel. We expected it to be a 4 star, but when we landed we just found that there are 4 golden stars in reception and they showed it and said that they got 4 star certification, haha was a joke. The quality was not even close to a 2 star hotel, rather there should not be any rating. Rooms are awfully small and more like a dormitory. Rooms are not clean and the service standards are really bad.
Regret for the delay in this post, but just wanted to make sure I write about my experience. I suggest travel community to be careful before choosing President Hotel.
Our only consolation factor was ATB Holidays, who gave us some flexible package and good advice to visit/not to visit places. It was a short trip and they packed our trip with lot of activity + time for ourselves.

“a good hotel but to far from the city”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

hotel president is located in zamalek the nile island in the diplomatic area. so for first: it is to far from the bursting city. second: if you are traveling on your own there are no shops close to the hotel, for a busy street you have to walk about 30 minutes.
the staff is friendly, the rooms we had were clean. on our first night we /3 traveles/ got 3 very noisy rooms /from outside ventilation/, but after complaining in the morning all of us got new, quite rooms. i can not answer the question why we did not get the quite rooms from beginnig, as the hotel was nearly empty....
breakfast was simple, coffee was bad, but the dinner was good.
not far / 10 min walk/ from the hotel several restaurants and a bar.
because of the distance to the city i would prefer a different hotel next time i visit cairo.

“stinky bed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 March 2011

I would not recommend this hotel, first the stinky bed, smells like they did not change it for so many years, even the closet, smells like dirty laundry. In toilet, they dont have a complimentary toiletries. When we ask the bell boy if they have a tooth brush because we forgot to bring one, they didnt know what toothbrush is (oh gosh!) and also the lock, you cannot have a privacy because the door is partialy open even when locked. Carpet smells like used snickers.

Definitely not recommend this hotel, find some place to stay where you can really relax and sleep with no worries.
