“Nice hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I visited Georgia with a couple of friends to make a road trip. We stayed for 5 days and as accommodation we picked Betsy's hotel. Overall I was happy: the rooms were well equipped and clean, such the whole hotel. The design was nice (oriental), the view on the city was great. The staff was friendly, flexible and they spoke english very well.
We also had a car, but parking was not a problem.
I can really recommend it!

“Good value for money”

Airport transfer/pickup is possible, parking does not seem to be an issue.
The receptionist spoke english.
Great view ( if you have your room on the side of the city ). Room was nice enough, bathroom is relatively small, but had a window.
Breakfast was OK, in choice and quality too. Wifi is available. Probably walking back from the city is a nice challange :)

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the city side of the building, nice view.

“significant improvements after renovation, albeit a bit pricey”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

i used to stay in the hotel in 2005-8, and now visited it again after some time (and a renovation + opening of a new building.
the new building was the one I stayed, and it is impressively clean, modern in equipment and even with some real design-like efforts. wifi did not work frequently (a problem i experienced several times ago already), but there is a LAN in each room, and that works well.
breakfasts are modest, but not bad, and the expats are herding in the bar like they did before.
the pool on front of the is just a tiny washbowl, good for nothing even in summer - no change in this either. do not count on much gym or whatever - this is the weakpoint of betsy's... togehter with rather distant location (whch means: you walk a lot or use taxi to find a good restaurant downtown; and walk to the hotel in the nights is not recommended especially for ladies, but in general for anyone), which is outweighetd by the excellent view over the city.

Room Tip: ask for hose overlooking the city, and in the new building.

“Great views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We stayed here for a week visiting our son who was studying at Tbilisi State University in an English language graduate program. Very well run hotel with incredible views. Not that central but if you are in shape it is a nice walk to the center of the city, although the return trip is up a very steep hill. Taxis are ubiquitous and cheap if you don't want to walk, although the rides can be more of an experience than some people would like. (We had to push one of ours to the side of the road when it ran out of gas, difficult to do when you are laughing too hard).
The food was excellent and the staff very helpful. There is a branch of Prospero's book store on site where one can pick up a cheap continental breakfast. The only downside was ubiquitous cigarette smoke, even on linens brought into our room, but it is hard to avoid smoking in Georgia. The only other issue was inconsistent internet.
Having an ATM on site was a big help. Would definitely stay here again. It is charming and does not have a hotel chain feel. Tbilisi is a great place to visit and we would not hesitate to go back.

Room Tip: All the rooms seem to have a view of the city

“Great View of the City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

people found this review helpful

We lived in Georgia for several years and visited Betsy's often, especially for the Friday evening snacks and drinks frequented by ex-pats. This was the first time that we stayed in the hotel, and it was a nice experience. The hotel is perched in the hills overlooking the city and there are terrific views of Tbilisi from the restaurant terrace.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the city.
