The President Yamoussoukro is one of the remarquable relics from the "golden age" of Ivory Coast.

It was probably a very luxurious property in the 80's, but nothing has changed since that time... (same furniture, same carpets, etc.)
Rooms are a bit smelly but remains clean and pleasant.

There are 2 buildings: the tower and the annex. Everytime I visited Yamoussoukro, I stayed in the tower, but the annex (a 2-storey building) is probably more secure in term of fire protection (I am not so sure the fire prevention regulation is 100% respected in that big tower...).

The restaurant on top of the tower is a must-try place for its 80's atmosphere and the view over the State Capital.

Finally, very average compared to western standards, but definitivelly no other options in Yamoussoukro...

Definetely the best option for Yamossoukro, if not the only. Obviously aging, the hotel still retains the atmosphere of booming 80ies in cote d'Ivoire.Still, as the hotel is about 20-years old, it hasn't gone through any renovation. No surprise that Intercontinental stopped operating it. Rooms are large, lobby and panoramic restaurant very impressive. Don't miss the Basilica view from the restaurant!
