I'm sitting in my room at the Hotel President as I write. It must have been magnificent when it was built in the late '70s, and it still retains a solid air of elegance and style, albeit shabby elegance and retro style. I really quite like it. And the restaurant on the 14th floor with the 360 degree view of the city and surrounding countryside is spectacular! (Food is neither spectacular nor spectacularly bad. Lunch buffet was fine.) Our room is clean and comfortable, with a decent TV and internet, so one can easily overlook the outdated decor and tired... well... tired everything else. We requested extra towels and they arrived within 10 minutes. Pool is lovely and seems well-tended. Main lounge area and bar are pleasant, with mellow live band in the evening. The best hotel Yamoussoukro, and possibly Cote d'Ivoire, have to offer.
