This is a lovely, atmospheric hotel in an old colonial house. Much of the furniture and fittings are original. The staff are friendly and let us check in early, at 10am, after a long flight. We were also delighted to be upgraded to a suite. However, on both days we stayed - at the beginning and end of our trip - they had trouble finding our reservation, leading us to worry that we'd have nowhere to stay. It shouldn't be that hard to have a ready list each day of expected guests.
The pool is welcome after a hot day's sightseeing, and is a useful oasis in a bustling city. Rooms with pool views are the nicest.
The bar is great, but we didn't try the restaurant. We had a very early flight, but the staff still brought us a breakfast box at 4.30am, which was a good touch.
On our second stay, the 'hot' water was only lukewarm.
